So I have the k100+. It claimed to have a better set of batteries then the standard k100. IDK. What I do know is that the 2.5 ohm carto's that came with the device seem worthless on a mech. Am I doing something wrong? I figure the higher resistance is the culprit for the light hits. Am I correct to assume so?

With that said and assuming its to high. I have my squid rda. I have a multimeter but it seems to be off when it comes to ohms. I have 30 awg kanthal and 2mm wick. Can anyone suggest a safe ohm setup for a coil? Can anyone explain the best way to achieve said ohm?

As of now I have 2 strands twisted and 5 wraps around folded 2mm silica. My multimeter claimed 1.6ish ohms but due to it not firing correctly on my ego, I have learned it has to be at or below 1.5. It hits really well as it is now. I am just worried about the health of the battery. I am running a fuse in it so would it be safe to assume the fuse would blow before any damage is done?

I have seen a lot about micro/nano coils and am wondering if that may be the way to go? Could I wrap 2, 2 ohm nano coils and run it dual as 1 ohm or is my math off? The squid only has 2 posts btw.

Here is a pic of current setup.

considering the nominal voltage of the battery as 3.7V then your only getting about 5.5 watts into a 2.5 ohm carto so yes, you can assume that is the reason for your weak hits. 1.5 ohms on a mech is safe even on a crap battery, that's only about 2.5 amps. The meter may be + or - a couple tenths of an ohm depending on quality. Ego batteries usually limit to about 2.5 amps. Don't forget that the battery voltage could be as high as 4.2 volts on a full charge giving about 2.6 amps into a 1.6 ohm load, that would also cause the ego to go into limit mode.

I have a k101 and its basically the same thing. If you're using a mech mod, hi-ohms are your enemy. With out knowing what kind of batteries you have, I would target a 1.0-1.2 ohm build. With a 1.0ohm coil with a fresh batt at 4.2V will pull about 4.2amps at about 17.6 watts which is should be safe for most batteries out there. I would highly recommend since you have a mech, invest in some good quality batteries, mnke batts are nearly bullet proof and can handle up 30amp draws, where as random china batteries have an unknown amp rating. From my experience anything over 1.4 will extremely handicap mechs. Fasttech has started carrying the atty/carto ohm meters for $10 and if they're instock, they can be found online in the US for $20-30 and the double as great building stands too. Hi-ohm items are better left to VV/VW devices. I wrap 28g in tight dual semi-micro coils usually 5 wraps all neatly touching and aim for two 1.0ohm coils outputting .5 ohm (but I have good batteries) and my K101 with the igo-w hit pretty darn well. ohms law calculator is also a must to ensure safety and can easily be found online, just google it.
