OK, so I have shiny thingitis and am in the market for my next kit!

So far I have a 30w iStick, a Nano version of the same and an Aspire Premium kit, plus a bunch of tanks (several CS Airs, a CS nano, a Nauti Mini and a Nauti 2).

I'd like to get some kind of subohm setup, but I have a few requirements:

1. I don't want anything too crazy! Just a small step up.
2. I'd rather have a mod with a built in battery if poss, but not essential.
3. I have ZERO interest in building coils, just holds no appeal for me whatsoever.
4. I'm a little bit put off top loading tanks after bad experiences with the Nautilus 2.
5. I'm a bit of a scaredy cat so I want something that's definitely safe!

A couple of Kanger options have been on my radar but I thought I'd pose the question here for recommendations! :)

Also, if anyone could tell me in simple terms what I get / gain from temperature control I'd be grateful!

Basic subohm starter box for around 20 USD = Kanger NEBOX. Yes it has a removable 18650 battery, which you will have to buy separately but, it will charge the battery for you without having to remove it once it's in there. It does come with a rebuildable atty but, two premade as well and, you can buy ready to go attys (called coils) for it.

Tips for it, make sure juice tank cap is tight, it leaks if not.
Store and charge on side, not standing up.

Pros:
Easy to use with premade coils.
Easy to fill.
10 ML tank.
Easy to charge w/o removing battery.
Not too big.
Great airflow.
Respectable vapor production.
Variable wattage and temperature.

Cons:
non removable tank is difficult to clean.
plastic tank so cinnamon, hot pepper, pineapple, citrus and, some cola juices will crack it, thus destroying the NEBOX.
leaks if cap is not tight or if stored upright overnight. Vibration when traveling can also cause leaks if unit is upright.

@btportugal - I like my Kanger Subvod kits that I got on sale for about $20.25 USD 2-3 months ago. They came with a 0.5ohm SSOCC coil, but since I don't sub-ohm, I just use the 1.2ohm and/or 1.5ohm coils in them instead. The battery is only 1300mAh, but I find it lasts a good while for me. Tank capacity for US version is 3.2mL, but for UK version it's 1.9mL. I like that the TopTank Nano they come with is a topfill, and have had no problems with them at all. Also comes with a spare glass, Micro USB cable, and manual.

Eleaf istick 200w with 5000 mah internal battery. I haven't used it but it looks interesting. For a tank get the uwell crown, great tank with great coils that last and produce awesome flavor. Plus they can be used in wattage or temp control. The benefits of temp control is you won't ever get a burnt hit. If the wick dries up the mod reduces the power as to not burn the cotton. I hope this helps good luck.

As far as a mod is concerned I would recommend the Eleaf IPower 80W. It has a built in 5000 mah battery. It's not too big and lightweight. Here's a review for this device -

As far as a subohm tank, I would go with the Smok Baby Beast tank. I actually have that exact setup in my rotation and they go well together.

I started out with a Kanger to box mini, it was good in the fact that It got me away from tobacco. When I first started using it I watched the vapor go in and out but got no flavor from it. I tried a Vaperesso RBA tank and was able some tobacco flavor. I've been able to drop down from 18 mg to 3 mg of nicotine easily. I get better flavor from the Eleaf pico which is half the price and the menu system is better.
Now I like the Smok products because of the flavor there tanks produce.

Hi BT
Lots of good mods out there so I won't bother to suggest any beyond saying have a look at their reviews (real reviews not the Youtube ones) and stay with a popular unit and you won't be displeased.

Are you sure you want an integrated battery as they can't be replaced. Bad battery and you have to scrap the mod. Uncharged battery and you have to wait for it to charge.

What the temp control does is adjust the power going to the coil to keep its resistance at a calculated setting corresponding to the temp setting you input. To use this you must use the correct wire type for the TC mode you have set it for so first and foremost you must know what your coils are using for wire and set the mod's mode correctly. The advantage to TC is that you no longer have to concern yourself with how long you are pushing the fire button. Without TC and even at low power settings the coil will get too hot and cause a dry hit (literally burning your wick) if you hold that button down too long. With TC it no longer matters as the mod will prevent the coil from getting too hot so dry hits are much more unlikely. TC will allow you longer draws and thus bigger clouds. The disadvantage to TC is that it can't support all wires, it dosen't necessarily perform flawlessly and it removes your direct control over that fire button. I'm a lazy guy and usually just leave my atty's running on power setting even though they are all wired with stainless steel meaning they will support TC but I don't see TC as such an advantage that I use it all the time.
