Hey all... brand new to everything. Excuse my ignorance.

I started looking into E-cigs as a possible present for my Mother. She's a heavy, heavy smoker and it's causing all of the typical health problems. I was hoping to push her towards a new, "healthier" and cheaper option.

She is *not* tech savvy... in any way shape or form. Need the simplest kit out there, and know where it's available in Canada.

I thought the Ego tank models looked pretty simple... ideas?

Anything would help. Thanks

Since you are trying to get her off analogs I would suggest a KR808 type systems. They look like regular cigs and are easy to deal with. I am still working through which system I like more. I have both and am still smoking analogs, but today I only had 5 instead of 40+. You may want to read through the page ECF info page (link below), it might help with your decision, it helped me.

Quick go to Healthcabin Healthcabin Electronic Cigarettes - Wholesale and Retail-- ,the Xmas sale still on,till 25th dec..the variable voltage 650 mAh promotion sale is great..U have all in this starter kit but add a plug and few extras cartos and U have a complete kit in hardware..since Canada banned the import of nicotine e-liquids best avoid even getting 0 nic ones..so yr custom will not confiscate it..source yr e-liquids locally(lots of resellers in Canada forum, just ask when U there)..this VV eGo kit is the simplest and easy to maintance just read up the proper way to fill, refills yr cartos..the VV bateries have the ability to vape from 3.2V to 4.2V and 650 mAh has 1/2 day vaping battery life when fully charged..the battery's end has a indicator to tell U the charged level all 5 bars lits up is fully charged..wonderful gadget and so easy to use..regards mafig

Welcome, my experience i was a long life smoker, tried to quit many times & succeded for varies months, & even several years but eventually ended smoking. As i am at a mature age i resigned myself to be a smoker, really didn't have a great deal of incentive to go through the agony of trying to quit again, only to torment myself with another failure. I accidently found ECF & utube vapers, so out of curiosity i tried an over priced ecig like analog that was a waste of money. Then i tried a KGO which was hopeful but still not keeping up with my demanding needs. So i bought a Darwin & i could not have found a better PV for my serious needs. The Darwin is so easy for me, just plug in like a cell phone everynite, don't have to know alot to use it. The problems other than finding the right PV was the juice, again i was lead to the perfect for me vender so was set in those two areas. The perplexing issue has been the consistent delivery system whice i found to be a learning curve no matter what i tried from varies cartos, attys & tanks etc... seemed to be alot of fiddling which has dampered my success so far, yet i have spent a vast amount of time in researching here & am swayed to the rebuildable atty tanks in the Genesis types. It has taken time to find a couple that i can use now & i am excited to get them going as i am very hopeful in what they will bring to my success in vaping. As they aren't easy yet as i stated they all have a learning curve so i will focus on the Genesis types & learn them well. That is my story, as we are all different you may find something totally different too. With warm regards i wish you & your Mother well & have fun learning. ECF is a great community to be a part of.

I'll jump in, I helped my 64 yo non tech mother to quit. I got her the eGo with cartomizers to start, I sat her down and showed her step by step and she did great! (step by step was the key for her and lots of support kept her going) After 40 + years of heavy smoking she quit. Turns out she likes to drip, she is a little ADD so i think the constant dripping helps her to concentrate and stay focused. She's is 9 months in now and wants to get a MOD. :) Oh and she does a little DIY too.

808 with prefilled cartos is generally really good for someone not into the tech side.

A couple of XL batteries, some sampler carto packs to dial-in the mg and flavors, then restock the ones she likes.

Auto is fine, particularly if you stay the prefilled carto route. We all go into the ultimate savings by filling/refilling yourself, and manuals are great if you drip or fill your own, but end of the day a 5 pack of prefilleds at $10 (usually less on sale) provides a decent amount of vaping.

(What is best for a person to use is situational. I enjoy my VV manual mods and tanks, slot my own cartos, but if a person just isn't into the tech side a couple of autos and prefilleds can be preferable to more complex gear that would gather dust.)

Of course it depends on what you can reasonably obtain in Canada. If prefilled 808 cartos just aren't available then something else might be more sensible.

E-cigs do not have to read as "technical", even to those of us over 50. To simplify the basics, compare the components with a fountain pen. You can get pre-filled cartridges, or you can refill your own. You need to clean your nip, you need to clean your atomizer. You need to replace your nip from time to time, you need to replace your atomizer as needed. You need to cap your pen to keep it ready for use, you need to recharge your battery to keep it ready for use. You choose your ink brand and color, you choose your e-juice strength and flavor.

It's a GREAT invention, but it does not have to be a daily science project, so possible converts don't need to be discouraged by it sounding complicated and time consuming. Some enjoy upgrading and investing extra time and effort into their vaping like people who are really into calligraphy. Some just want to write a pretty letter!

Happy vaping!
