I'm a newbie at making my own ejuice. I'd appreciate some recommendations as to what I can do with the following ingredients:

4oz propylene glycol
30ml unflavored 36mg PG juice (the ingredients indicate some VG)
10ml grape flavor extract
10ml mandarin orange extract

I would like to cut the bottle of 30ml unflavored 36mg PG juice, giving me 2 bottles at 18mg strength. I would like a throat hit and consistency similar to Dekang liquids.

Do I have the right ingredients?

(BTW, I also have some Dekang 24mg Dr. Pepper and DK-Tab)

I would mix 15ml of 36mg with 7.5ml of PG to give a base to start with. That would be 22.5ml at 24mg. From there I would start with test batches to find the right combo for flavouring. End result should be somewhere between 18-24mg (24 if you use the Dekand, DP or DK). Once the taste is right start adding more PG until you happy with the reduced TH. Use the remaining 36mg to bump up if you dilute out too much.

If you have 24mg juice and mix it with 24mg diy base you will still have 24mg nic content

I would be tempted to mix the orange with the dekang / grape with the dr pepper / grape with the orange

As far as the DK goes - not a personal favorite of mine and can be very overpowering, but if I had to experiment then possibly the DK with the orange

I mixed what you suggested:

15ml 36mg unflavored juice
7.5ml pg

and i added 7.5ml grape extract.

It's thinner than the dekang liquid in consistency, but thicker in draw. I suppose that's because of the pg? Would a vg/pg mix make the draw easier? The taste is acceptable. It's better than some non-Dekang juices I've had, but it does have that detergent aftertaste, but not as bad as some I've had. I like the throat hit, and the vapor production is fine.

I would say it's a success, i.e. good enough to vape. But I will have to experiment some more until I find something as good as Dekang.

Sorry, had to move some things around. Here it is:
----
Here's my checklist:
- a DIY starter kit (like the one linked above). This should have nicotine base in it, if not make sure you buy some.
- a bottle of PG (proplyene glycol). I got mine off eBay.
- a bottle of VG (vegetable glycerin). I got mine in the cake decorating aisle of a craft store, drugstores also have them.
- Flavorants. I'll let someone else point you to some good places.

Here's the WAAAAAY bare bones way I actually started, before my kit showed:
- a bottle of VG from the store
- food flavorings from the grocery store (I looked for ones that weren't "Oils", ones suspended in PG, alcohol, or water)
- a dropper
- some little bottles with screw-caps
Total cost <$10

Since it was no-name store-brand flavors, we eyeballed at 15% and used an online ejuice calculator (Google shows tons) to make up 2-3 mls. It told me how many drops of what to put in -- with the really simple VG/flavor only recipie, that was only two different ingredients!

Then I closed the bottle up, shook it hard, and put it in a little bowl full of warm water for 10 minutes, Then vape it.

I'm not saying I got GOOD results with plain old grocery store flavorants, but as a proof of concept it was fun, cheap, and took like twenty minutes. That can keep you entertained until your DIY orders and flavorants show.

Thanks for the answer Sweeney Todd.

I was hoping for a lil more info on the store bought flavorings, type of flavorings, brand names, which ones gave the best results.

I have been a DIYer since the first day I started vaping. That was last March. Yeah, I just said damn the torpedos and gave myself a crash course to keep costs down. LOL.. For me the only way this was gonna work was if I could do it as cheap as possible.

I was kinda hoping you had some ideas on dirt cheap flavors I could get locally that were strong and worked well with high voltage. I find most DIY flavors don't take well to HV and especially if you use a 50/50 pg vg blend.

I take it the flavors you tried were not too concentrated?

Yeah, unfortunately generic storebought flavorings don't give fantastic results. Even the 'concentrated' ones aren't as concentrated as the name brand' ones talked about in the DIY forum. I'd try 15-20% and see how that does.

However, you might be able to find Lorann flavorings, which are covered in the stickies in Tips and Tricks -> DIY. That might help you.
