I used to work with tiny 8 leg programmable microcontrollers, so mine is only 15 watt. With bigger projects (car soldering) I've had to hold it there for a few seconds, but it has never let me down in 10 years. I got it at RadioShack for $10 and IMO I will likely continue to use this for anything that fits on a computer desk. I am also much less likely to overheat something with only 15 watts. Just remember, when working on thin wires, a little solder goes a long way.
