Yeah, the 510 is definitely spring loaded. The tube you connect the bottle to moves up and down as you screw the atty on/off. From the top, it 'looks' like you could get away with having at atty with a short 510 on it, but the Recurve rda (longer pin than some others I own) went all the way down with no resistance.

The paint really is paint. It just has a soft feel to it. Not sure how durable it will be long term, but you can see inside the mod, removing the squonk bottle, it's sprayed directly on the alloy frame. There are some bare spots I can see with the bottle removed. It feels really good though. Not quite as soft as resin panels or the like, but it has a soft feel to it. It will be interesting to see how it hold up over time. I don't think it will peel, but it will probably wear/scratch like regular paint would. The black one is a matte finish, no fingerprints, etc. However it will show juice and the like obviously.

Two hours and no leaks from the squonk bottle and where it connects. So my concerns about the bottle going in/out so easily (not a tight fit) doesn't seem to be a concern yet. If this thing doesn't end up leaking, it may be a winner if you are fine with an unregulated device. That will take some time to see as well.

If I don't get any better with the manual refill process (what I've always done), I will pull out a refill bottle.

LOL, I just bought my first refill bottle last month. I highly recommend them. Much easier to fill a modern squonker.

Thanks for the details. I'll be getting this one. I loved the original Pico Squeeze, but all of mine have died. This one seems to function in a similar fashion. Plus, I have some 20700 batteries I can use in it.

I understand about the paint scratching, I just hope it doesn't come off in large flakes where it looks like it has mange...

Thanks again!

Just a quick update. Been using this since I got it yesterday, and no signs of any leaking. Been through about 3 bottles of juice on it so far and no issues. Chugging along like a champ.

Only other thing I've noticed so far is the fire button is easy to press accidentally. Happened to me a few times when I pulled it out of my pocket. Between the weight of the mod, and the light 'trigger' to fire it, it's easy to press when picking it up, pulling it out of my pocket, etc. Now that I'm aware of it though, I just keep my finger off the button until I'm ready to fire it. Just like a handgun. ;)

Tonight it will be leaving the house with me and taking a few hour trip. Going to see if it travels well or not. Main concern would be the fire button pressing accidentally, but there's always the option to turn it off when pocketing it. I know that's always a good idea, I'm just not used to having to do it.

Since the battery is difficult to insert/remove without damaging the wrap, I've been using the onboard charging. It seems to charge like a real charger does, high rate initially (claims 2A), and then it slows down when it gets towards the end. At least I assume that's what's going on. It gets kind of warm during charging, and then at the end, cools down and the charge light is still on for a bit. I'm going to remove the battery cover next time I charge it and see if this alleviates some of the heat while charging. Charging it at 2A probably isn't a good idea with the battery enclosed like that.

I haven't tried other battery sizes in it yet since I bought it with the intention of using a 21700. It might not be as bad with a 20700, or even different 21700's since the 21700 seems to vary in size more than other cells. Also, if using one of the adapters with the other sizes, if the adapter is on the + end, that should solve the problem as well.

Great info – thanks for posting your experiences with it.

By the way, you may want to pick up a USB current/voltage/capacity meter to keep tabs on the battery when charging internally. I use it whenever charging internal battery mods (or things such as powerbanks) to keep tabs on battery capacity. You get much the same info as if you were using an external charger with a display. Lots of them available – the link is just to the first one that popped up on Amazon that offered current/voltage/capacity reads. Seen them for as little as $5

Mooch posted a video of his testing to see what the Recurve is capable of regarding wattage. Interesting findings -- it has the ability to hit 100+W at 0.10 ohms or below with a 30T.

The screen shot is of his summary table, but the full video is worth a look.

Is there any on off? I'd rather buy the Luna Squonker, in spite of the 18650 battery.

Yes, it has on/off. Typical 5 clicks of the fire button.

I really enjoyed mine before I left for vacation. I'll be picking it right up when I get home. Was using it as my home mod, and then taking the Pulse 80 when out/about.

I went ahead and ordered another. Should be waiting for me when I get home. Very comfortable mod to hold and use. Still no leaking up until I left for vacation.

I also own a pair of Lunas, see my profile pic. Love them a lot too. Smaller and lighter by far than the Recurve, but the 18650 is kind of a bummer when you're used to larger battery options.

Either mod is a great choice for an unregulated Squonker depending on what you are looking for

I have a Pulse 80 too, was gonna pass on the Recurve and maybe wait for a reg version. Glad I ordered it though, particularly now my Smoant Cylon screen just crapped out on me. No more Smoants for me, what with that and the paint flaking from the Battlestar.
Smoant are cloupor rebranded...and cloupor never had a very brilliant reputation for reliability...

Well I have only had the Recurve a few days, been thru a few bottles and batteries.
My impression pretty much mirrors score69's.

I like it, but ( there is always a but):
It is heavy, more than I thought it would be
I wish the bottle door magnets were stronger or there was a third one near the top.
The bottle tube is sloppy loose!! No leaking though. I do use a refill bottle also.
BUT:
Its pretty nice looking (if you can get past the BUNNY thing)
It feels great in the hand
It is affordable.

Just set mine up and in the middle of my morning commute with the recurve in hand.

Yeah. I like this mod. Dig the weight. Good ergonomics. Compliments my reload x rda with some 0.16 aliens. The button is sublime. The looseness of the door out of the box seems like an oversight but it's an easy fix.

Only had mine a day but quite like it. I only use 20700 batteries in it and so far had pretty good battery life with a Kanthal 22 7 wrap coming in at around 0.42. Did try an alien at 0.26 but that hit too hard for me. Will try a NiCr 80 22 ga 8 wrap next.

Like the feel, like the design, bit heavy but not overly so. I mostly fill squonks with a refill bottle but I've gone over more to the Wotofo refill caps. Easier IMO and I don't find I have to worry about flavours lingering in the refill bottles as well as the squonk bottles.

As others have said I'd have rather it been a reg mod but it's good enough for me to keep in use with my no 2 or 3 squonk juice.

Nice mod for a good price and good quality too if you're in the market for an unregulated and probably the nicest mod I have with regard to ergonomics and hand fit.
