This is a review of the Red Sky Mods Mark IV VV.
Construction is solid and amazing. Interior is clean , organized, and sealed. It is blatantly obvious that alot of heart goes into the construction of Red Sky Mods. Mine is a Paduak body with Wenge caps with a wenge inlay on the side. I got one of the first few dual models, capable of stand shoot/tilt shoot, made. I have the SS switch and Stainless steel Catch cup.
Upon opening, I removed the door of the mod to expose the battery and bottle compartment. Inside the main body section there is a small ledge on each side. This ledge serves as a guide to seat the batteries and hold them in place. It seems to be a very functional addition to the internals and the batteries fit very snugly and do not rattle. Feed bottle removed and filled. All of the feed parts are tight fitting and do not leak. Upon replacing the door I did notice my magnets are set a touch too deep in the wood. It appears that they may not be making as good of a seal on the door as they would have had they been set a mm less deep. They do still make contact though.
OK now the important part, hows the vape?
The bottle was filled with BWB RY4 for the initial test drive. This is where the first thing I saw as a flaw appeared. I dont use much 510 gear. I honestly despise the 510 connection but have learned to survive. we have to learn to work with it in some cases. That said, I went to place a cannon 510 on the mod and realized it will not fit in the catch cup.... Well that being the extent of my 510 atty collection I decided to put a adapter on and break out a 901. Unfortunately the adapters would not fit as the feed tube is larger than the holes in all of the adapters I own. OK lets fast forward an hour. I have now custom drilled a 510 - 901 adapter to allow the metal feed tube to go into the adapter. 901 atty in place and vapor is rolling. The mod works very well. and I am fairly impressed up to this point.
At this point I decided to do some voltage testing. My meter is from notcigs and has a 901 connector. Since I had a freshly modified adapter for 901 I figured I should be able to test out my meter on it. It did not work. I did some checking inside to realize that the connections were wired backwards from any mod I have ever owned. Positive was wired to the thread side of the connector. Negative to the center. I did do some tests with a DMM and everything else checked out.
My overall opinion is that this is a very nice Mod
Pros
Superb Craftsmanship
Nice interior
batteries fit better than any ive seen
Finish is nicel. allows you to still feel the wood grain
Switch is solid and nice.
Cons
Catch cup is a touch small not allowing larger attys. (This will not be a con for many)
Connector wired backwards (Fixed in current models)
Tube in the connector wont allow adapters or the use of cartos (also fixed in new models)
