Don't try this at home. Just because I did, and didn't burn my house down or kill myself doesn't mean you won't.
SWMBO was cleaning out a closet, I was doing the heavy lifting... and I found an old plug in power supply. FSM only knows what it was originally for... but it was 5VDC 1amp.
I cut the end off and stripped the wires--tongue check said it was live.
I loaded a 3ohm carto, stuck one wire up the bottom and touched one wire to the side and took a drag. It hits better than a my 1.7ohm resurrectors on my ego.
I ripped the guts out of a dead ego passthrough(dropped it on the concrete off my forklift a few too many times) and wired it up directly to the back of the 510 head. I kept the shell for a handle. I need a switch. Touching the wires together doesn't make it convenient.
Part of me wants to try this with one of my LR cartos. At best, I'll burn it out.
