refillable 510 carts

real simple noob question

how often do I need to buy new refillable 510 carts? I'm swapping round with 3 atm but after how many refills?

also : do I need new carts or can I change the cotton stuff only

also+1: do the ego mega carts seriously hold 2.5ml? might consider a mega atty if thats true !

The polyfil in carts gets hard & stops wicking. It is pretty easy to replace. How long... Don't know. I switched to blue foam fil before a week into it and that's what I usually use.

Have done the polyfil stuffing material (make sure it is not treated with fire ......ant) in the big bag. (Had a bag sitting around). Tried the pyramid tea bag and it's OK. Have some fluval, but haven't tried it yet.

None of my carts goes more than a few days till I pull them apart and wash them in PGA.

Haven't tried the mega carts or cartos yet, but that does seem to be a huge amount.

I would go with the Blue Foam replacement for your carts. There is no reason to buy new carts, just replace the filler. Like Hoosier, I used several fillers before I bought the Blue foam and it work much better than the others for me. The only thing I do is clean my carts and foam, especially when you change to another juice. Just clean them with hot water and dry. You will notice the vapor drop off after a few weeks and just replace the foam. One bag of the foam will cost around $8.00, and should last you 6-8 months.

The maga 510 attys are nice and hold a lot of juice. Haven't measured it yet but more than the standard cart. The plastic cart can be used for years, it's the filler that needs replacement ever so often.

Another vote from blue foam, works nice in Mega carts too. Even my new one's I replace with foam. It works well and easy to work with.
