refilling carts

what can I be using to do this then? I have no idea what the straw you speak of is... also will the straw burn and poison me.. that is my main concern

I manage 3-4 drops at the mo and it seems to taste like plastic again after only a few puffs

the few puffs are nice tho.. big thick nice tasting vapour

just a shame it is working out to last SO much less refilling than to just buy prefilled carts

using TW Tobac 18 mg here
i have the same question about the straw method you posted (the whole poison thing) not sure abt the fabric type fill inside the carts either please forward any info you recieved based on your question posted . im in the U.S. and everytime i try to order the refill carts everyone is out or on back order , have you found any good e liquids w flavor / i did reserch on the pg liquid bases all commin from china , found one american made product at johnsoncreekjuice.com just ordered it though < have no idea how the flavor or smoke is yet, will pass on any knowledge i recieve back to you < please reply

Hi Amanda, when you say you cut your liquid with glycerine, do you mean VG, PG or just straight glycerine (like the kind at Michael's crafts, etc.), really interested in which type glycerine you used to cut your liquid.
Thanks for any info, Darlene
i ordered my liquids from johnsoncreekjuice.com its the only american made pg and non pg base i have found all other bases found come from china , just playin it safe . the base you use is more a choice the non pg was only created due to some people having allergies to the pg base , good luck ! if you here of any good liquids , please let me know

This is the straw method explained:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/joye-510/15093-incredible-510-cart-upgrade.html

The straw does not burn, it does not melt, you don't die.

Hope that helps. :)

Question for those with 'the straw mod'..

It seems the only real point of the straw is for refilling, allowing any trapped air at the bottom of the cart to escape when being refilled.

If that's the case, then shouldn't filling with a syringe from the bottom have the exact same effect? (in it's case, the liquid filling from bottom up would push the air out from the bottom up, vs the straw allowing air to escape as the fill from the top pushes it 'down')..
    ??

Is there a trick to getting the cartridge out? I have tried using a paper clip and the cartridge doesn't budge.

    Thanks!

The cart on the 510 is AFAIK (I have one), integrated into the mouthpiece, inseparable. Just pull the cart off the atomizer, and choose your refill method:
    - remove the poly wick from the inside of the cart, drip 5-6 drops, replace wick, drop a few until the top of wick just starts to saturate, optionally, drip a drop or two on the atomizer wick, install cart. Vape away.

    - Use a syringe, leave wick/fill in place, insert to bottom, slowly squeeze syringe, until top (open end) of cart wick just starts to saturate, optionally, drip a drop or two on the atomizer wick, install cart. Vape away.

    - leave cart wick in place, and just 'top up' - a few drips onto cart wick, until top (open end) of cart wick just starts to saturate, optionally, drip a drop or two on the atomizer wick, install cart. Vape away. This is where I believe the 'straw mod' may help.

    - drip only - drop a few drops (2-3 max) onto the *atomizer* wick directly, then install cart, with or without cart wick, vape away.

Personally, I use the syringe, and do a handful of carts at a time, re-cap them, then am good for a day or few. Seems easiest, without air pockets or need for 'the straw mod' as far as I can tell.

Yes, the straw does assist with the refilling as you've suggested.

However, many also report now being able to vape all/most of the liquid from the cart before needing to top off and refill, which allowed longer vaping sessions before topping off or refilling was needed again.

Before the straw, many were talking about not being able to vape all the liquid in their carts and it being wasted. Of course, there were those who would squeeze the liquid out of their cart wool too in order to not waste the juice.

Me? I believe these reports, but can't verify because I only used the 510 for 1 day when I found out about the straw mod and immediately incorporated it.

I can say that every fill takes a bunch of drops and that I have long vaping sessions prior to needing to fill/top off again, but I haven't experienced the wasting juice part... just didn't have the prior vaping experience to verify it.

Thanks for the response. I get good life out of my carts using the syringe method. I may try the straw method for comparison, but seems the 'vape all the liquid' may just be a result of the cart filling up better, which is also achieved via filling from syringe, bottom up?

Although, I guess it is possible, the 'clear airway' also works 'in reverse' - meaning allows proper filling by letting the air out, but also somehow helps wicking by allowing easier air flow to the bottom of the cart, as well?

Ok, will have to try with a half dozen carts, and compare 'run time' with syringe vs straw then :)

My refilling proceedure works well for me. I have been using my cartridges over & over without any problems. I pull the filler material out about a 1/4" and using a sharp pointed pen knife I separate the fibers gently getting them back to their original form. I use a small glass eye dropper I insert the dropper between the cartridge wall and the filler material. This allows for me to fill the cartridge completely, removing the air from the cartridge. If the filler material gets too compressed I remove it from the cartridge with my tweezers , blot it dry, and reshape it before reinserting it into the cartridge. If the filler material is in good shape I just refill from a syringe inserted fully into the cart.

I have seen no improvement by inserting the straw. It does work well but doesn't offer much improvement in my 510, I already get great vapor as long as the atomizer is working at 100%.

Got this idea from Kate51 in a post earlier this month.
    precisionappbottle.jpg
It's a precision oiler. In Kates post she included a link to an ebay seller, by the time I got there they were out of stock but I did find it here:

    https://hs67.order-vault.net/sentry...oducts_id=15&zenid=qk3gi0n390mcd171phu99ocb44

The bottle is 1/2oz, but the needle applicator is the same thread as those on about 95% of the juice bottles I have. Simple grab a bottle, screw the needle on and fill er' up. Actual needle is square/blunt, approx. 1 1/2 inch long. I was really frustrated with re-filling carts dy drops and didn't want to carry a syringe around. This item works really well me.

Hope this is of value folks, later

to clean carts i purchased splinter removal tweezers and pull incert and poly fill out of carts<should be 3 parts 1 small plastic part in cartand the fill and clean everything with warm water <squeezzz all water out of poly fill in a paper towel and leave dry over night to reuse. if you push poly fill into incerts to tight or too packed up into bottom of incert in tip it will not smoke as well its better to put drops into insert push polly fil in loose leaving space or juice in bottom of insert top poly off with 1 droponlt on atmiz only for best smoke do not put too much fill or too much juice their is a happy medium . to save money order 36mgjuice and cut w 50/50 veg glycrine if you want flavor add lorann oils to your juice, your atmiz will need cleaned if they are pullin hard watch youtube videos for many examples >> shopbettys, com has lorann oils for 1.09 us dollars this will save money and purchase "fluval "for polly cleaning pads product a-190 only. this is an addictive /hobby >>>>>>its not hurtin any one..

Oh and also I refill/top off when it tastes burnt. The cart usually has juice in it bit it doesn't seem to grab it...
polly fiber fill from pet stores its the same stuff < to clean old stuff pull all stuffing out and rinse under warm water squeezing in hand for a couple min squeezzzz on dry paper towell and dont use as much to refill . make sure polly batting is not cramed down to bottom of insert needs to be loose and fluffy and pulled to top of incert with liquid on bottom , and no more than 1 drip in atmizor its a trial and error type thing good luck ..the best poly fill is fluval polyester cleaning pads product a-190 on hagen web site

    Apologies for the late reply!

Do let us know how your experiments play out.... er... the results of them, that is. :)
