Going from tumbled or annodised might work but stripping powder coating on aluminum has to be done chemically and the chemicals are wicked and expensive. I believe he will tell you the same thing he told me, sell it and buy new. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure.
I bought a blemished reo grand. It was olive drab. My tungsten carbide wedding ring destroyed the paint. I took off all the paint. Then filed down the top to make it an lp. Haven't gotten around to polishing yet. But I will one day. It's easy to strip the outside. My internals are still olive though

As for making it a low profile. I took a flat ....... file and went to town. If you do this make sure you have a candle you can destroy. Aluminum will clog up the file and it's hard to get out. So I file a tea light candle first so the wax fills the file in. Makes it much easier to do. Also I used a caliper to make sure it was level
Thanks for all the helpful info. Now I have work to do. I'm going to try and customize door for the grande. If that turns out decent I'm gonna jump all in and refurb the whole thing. Thx again buddy.
I took a part my center post in the 510. If you have a cheap car to mixer you can break the end off. And thread it in. It would stop any shavings from getting in the 510. You can also stuff with cotton
