The enemies of nicotine that shorten its shelf life are:

• Heat
• Light
• Oxygen

I store my E Liquids in a Tupperware container in the refrigerator; I can’t prove it, but I believe the light goes out when I close the door? lol

I use amber glass bottles and top them off to limit the air (oxygen) in the head space.

I cut high octane mixing juice with PG to 50mg/ml; my supplier suggested that prolongs the shelf life.

I’ve seen some exotic methods posted for storing E Liquids; however, I believe they are unnecessary for my purposes. I rotate my stock (first received/first vaped) and generally don’t stock more than a year in reserve.

I refill my cartridges and periodically wash or replace them; I don’t see a need to store them in the refrigerator. The juice that’s it them gets replaced quite often! lol

I used to keep my stash in the fridge until I saw Adrenalynn post that it could detrimentally affect the flavor - hopefully she can weigh in again to clarify. I have been keeping mine in a cool dark location in the basement. Since I have been stocking up, I am expecting the juice to last 2 years, I hope!

I am keeping my spare batteries in the refrigerator though to extend the LiIon battery life however.

I have repeated this many times and will do so again here. I lost 400 dollars worth of e-liquid in the fridge. It turned a rancid taste after 4 months.

The key is cool, dark, and DRY. The problem with the fridge is mositure condensation. Our resident expert chemist, Kurt, explains that if the e-liquid is flavored, then store it out of the fridge. If it is unflavored, it is ok to store in the fridge.

I have e-liquid that is 2 years old and has been stored just laying around the house and is as good as the day I got it.

Bottom line here is to not "kill it with kindness".

Isn't all the e-liquid flavored? Tobacco is a flavor, isn't it? What is an example of unflavored liquid?

It’s interesting to compare techniques for storing E Liquids.

Like anything else on the internet, pick any position on any subject and you will find experts to back it up! lol

Tips for Storing E-liquid |

Ez--that is a problem and the reason why people should make informed decisions from hearing the experiences of others. Making blanket statments without experience is not really a good idea.

ezmoose, QQ, what is high octane mixing juice?

Pretty please with sugar sprinkled and a cherry on top, tell me that you're not fooling around with 100-150mg ejuice, okay? B/C, that's what it looks like -- maybe I misread it? maybe you mistyped it?

I haven't seen a resopnse to this subject from V4L.

While I certainly bow to the master vapors, and do indeed believe Sun (ouch@loss), I don't think it out of order to recieve direction from suppliers.

If it's only cool and dark, fine enough.

I'm oping refrig is ok, as I have EVERYTHING in my small fridge which is lockable. Lockable being key here. Most of my dark, cool, dry areas in the house are accessible by family and pets. (especially that darn chausie and his adopt savannah brother 8-o )

So V4L, whats the verdict?

Thanks for stepping in Steve , I was getting confused. But one ? what temp do you mean by "cool", I live in Texas and keep my house in the summer about 78 degrees. Is that cool enough, I do keep everything in the dark in my "Tackle Box".

What about keeping Batteries in the Frig?? A little more info please. ;)

I contacted one of the more established E-Liquid providers, Johnson Creek Original Smoke Juice, about this and here's what they had to say.

"Whereas the cooler temperature in your refrigerator does extend the shelf life, we have found that storing your Smoke Juice in a refrigerator does not alter the flavor of the Smoke Juice compared to storing it at room temperature."

It’s just some more information to add to the mix.

What I’m currently doing is working fine for me; if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! lol

Have a nice day…
