Sometimes the wiki guys make errors, sometimes the people who like to register devices do them but usually the errors get uncovered sooner or later and corrected. I do not know how to improve the process, we could register only devices with an attached photo as proove but I think that is too much and the system of trust works fine so far. In fact I guess that requesting a photo would have a big negative impact on registrations...
