Hi,

I just recently bought the 40 Watt TC istick battery kit that included the new GS tank which uses the .15 ohm TC coils.

I have 3 other 30 Watt istick batteries and a bunch of the GS Air 1.5 ohm coils left from when I was using my GS Air-M tank.

I just figured out I can't use this new tank on the 30 Watt istick battery since the smallest resistance it will take is 0.4 ohms.

2 questions - Can I use the old GS Air 1.5 ohm coils in the new GS tank? Then I would be able to still use up my old coils and use my 30 Watt istick batteries.

And secondly, as this is my first time sub-ohming, I'm confused about what wattage to run at using the new GS Tank with the new 40 Watt istick battery. The GS Tank instructions say to vape at 30 to 40 Watts. Do I set the 40 Watt istick battery to Watts and start at 30 Watts (and no less)?

I normally use the 1.5 ohm coils at 10 Watts and the only reason I bought this new tank is because it seems eleaf isn't making the GS Air-M tank anymore.

My apologies for the novel. Oh and my name is Julie, not Julia...typo on my username. Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum @AuntJulie. Glad to have you here!:)

ALL GS Air tanks (the same goes for other Manufacturers tanks) can be used on ANY mod you wish. What can't be used on any mod is a nickel coil (i.e. your 0.15Ω coil). Nickel (and Titanium) coils can only be used on a temperature control mod (like your iStick 40 watt) running in TC mode.

The ranges (30-40watts) are just the manufacturers suggested range. You can run lower, you can run higher. You can run it however you wish. Prime your new coil WELL. Start out low, take a hit, bump it up, another hit. Repeat until you like it or start to get a burnt taste (dry hit), dial it back down a notch or two.

Go out and watch some Youtube reviews on the iStick 40 watt to understand how temperature control works on your new mod and how to switch from TC mode to power/wattage mode (or whatever they call it on the iStick 40).

eLeaf is still selling the GS Air-M tanks, Sweet-Vapes has them in stock.

Thanks, Susan! I appreciate all the advice. I guess I will start at 10 Watts and hopefully I won't blow up my face. Lol

I do love the GS Air-M tank, but I've noticed that after 4 or 5 days, the juice gets really dark and icky. I roll up a paper towel and clean out the air shaft and it's all brown. Is that normal for this tank or is it the juice I'm using?

I use the Hawk Sauce and Happy Rancher from Mt. Baker and Juicy Fruit, Berry Bash, and Watermelon Wave from VaporFi.

Thanks for the tip on my username! :)

Welcome, Julie.

Your 1.5 ohms coils will work perfectly well on all of the tanks:

GS-Air
GS-Air M (which you can still buy from many vendors in North America and China)
GS-Air Ms. (ditto.....)
GS-Tank

The same is true for the 1.2 ohm cotton wick coils.
The TC coils will also fit any of these tanks, but require a mod that has TC capabilities.

Thanks Gran! I tried using the .15 coils but it only worked intermittently. The istick 40 W TC was reading .14 ohms, thereby shutting itself off. Sucking on it when there's no vapor is nasty. Lol I did as y'all suggested and put the 1.5 ohm coils in the GS tank and I'm back to vaping that at 10 Watts.

Any suggestions on why my juice gets thick and brown? I'm refilling the tank 1 or 2 times per day and I tried one of those stainless steel to mix my juices in. Then I was using a syringe to put the juice in the tank. The SS container though leaked, so I don't know if air exposure has contributed to it getting so thick and brown, or if I'm just mixing too many flavors.

Most of my juices are about 6-8 weeks old. Should I just dump them and buy new juice more often?

Thanks for all the advice! I've been lurking for about 2 years and finally decided to post.

The longer you use a coil the more juice that gets "carmalized" on the coil. This "carmalized" color gets transferred to the surrounding juice in the tank. Darker, sweeter, bakery type juice will "gunk" up a coil faster than light, fruit, tobacco flavored juice.

Try emptying your tank, put just a small amount of fresh juice in your tank. Try vaping it and if it too tastes burnt then this is a sign that it's time to put in a new coil.
