My analog was pipe. So, my pipe sits in my girlfriend's purse for the last 3 or so days, fresh packed, recently salt/whiskey soak baked clean, just perfect, 100% perfect and filth free, full of my favorite tobacco that had some time to age in the sun in it's glass jar. Just completely .... perfect, and it always tastes kind of awesome if a fresh bowl sits in a pipe for a few days with a good cake tamped flat on top.

I don't want to let that great smoke go to waste, I figured I'd enjoy the ritual with the rest of it, as I hadn't craved it once, but also didn't want to let it go to waste!
So I light it on up, and.... it tasted disgusting. rather than the complex mixture of cavendish, burley and virginian with a hair if spicy vanilla and aromatic cocoa I loved in newminster's imperial nougat for soooo long.... I just tasted ash and fire and.... smoke.

I have 3lbs extra at this point. just sitting in a gigantic jar. I started with the vapor entirely out of curiosity, comparing it to my enjoyment of hookah: nic fix, great flavor, etc. A buddy I work with is nuts about the stuff and wouldn't stop talking, but I had no intention to "quit" pipe at all.

Buuuuuut.... it looks like it went in that direction. I don't reek of smoke anymore, although I don't smell the smokiness at all on my clothes and stuff yet, but my sense of smell has gotten weirdly better, which is already weird because even as a HEAVY smoker my sense of smell was a little insane.... So I anticipate my cooking will improve, for sure, not to mention the whole, less carcinogens thing.

And I will probably be able to smell when the neighbor farts by this time next month.

I never thought pipe was an acquired taste, either. I enjoyed many tobaccos, but when I first found nougat at a shop in chicago, I literally teared up it was so perfect. while I haven't quite found my personal god-juice, e juice in general is just.... a completely different experience.

But yeah, I just wanted to mentioned that. Anyone else relapse/finish out the pack a few days/weeks/months after, and find that it simply wasn't a flavor you could handle anymore? I've always hated the flavor and smell of white cigarettes as a whole, much to the chagrin of my smoker friends: they'd think my pipe meant they could smoke their disgusting camels in my house, which they would quickly find out was not the case; pipe only... and at this point, vapor only :)

Nope. To this very second I do not understand why I have no desire to slip up. 45yrs of Not being able to quit for the life of me.

I have never been a quitter so when the time came, I set my goal to FINISH smoking and move on to a healthier life. I found out fast, for me Vaping is a hobby and I enjoy hobbies that relax me. I probably tinker as much as I vape most days and like learning how everything I use functions and finding ways to make them better.

Smoking was a habit - Vaping is an Adventure:D

I've relapsed to cigarettes (winston lights) 4 or 5 times.... I use a pro-vari 2 with Johnson Creek domestic 1.8 % juice

Anywya, what I've found is that the first relapse was 9 months or so during which time i didn't vape at all

second relapse was 5 months

next was 3 months

then one month

more recently just a couple of days

Honestly I find that I just don't CARE for regular smoking anymore

It doesn't taste good, the "hit" is not as good etc

So basically i fully transitioned over to vaping in stages!!!

I was big on the Cheyenne menthol little cigars due to cost (1.89/pack here) and my traditional interest in cigars much more than cigarettes. Eventually I got hooked on them and blah blah here I am, everybody here knows that kind of story. :p So anyway, I'm driving to the hardware store and I thought, let's have one, just to see. Part of me was a little scared I'd be missing it and go right back, but I was relatively confident it would be the remaining nail in the coffin to never pick one up again.

As I held the little cigar I thought, dang this thing is light! So part of me was already growing semi biased towards the real tobacco anyway. Then, I lit up. Immediately the taste entrenched my mouth and I was almost disgusted. Scratch that. I was disgusted. I sat there continually doing that tongue/mouth thing that feels natural when you taste something that is just terrible. I forced myself to smoke that entire little cigar, which in some ways felt like an eternity. Some of you might be like, wait, you ....., why did you even bother? The answer is simple, really. I lit the thing up. That was my decision. It was simultaneously my decision to punish myself for doing so.

Vape on, friends.
