Greetings ECF. As the title suggests I'm pretty new to vaping, I've been at it for about two months now, been off cigarettes for about a month. A good friend of mine who works at a local shop got me started when he saw that it worked well for him, and wanted to offer an alternative for me.

He gave me an evic VT with a kangertech subtank mini, some coils and some eliquid. I'm pretty comfortable with it now and recently switched to the .5 tanks, and I'm trying to figure out a good wattage for it to get a good balance of flavor and coil lifespan. The coil itself says 15-60w which seems like a big range to me. I've been keeping it at 35-40 and just not sure if that's right or not, I haven't gone higher because I don't know if it'll just kill the coil that much faster or whatever. I'd hit him up but he's gone till after the new year hits.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Also, would the evic VT work well with a .2 coil? I have the firmware update that allows for up to 75w.

Cowtown, USA. Where the West begins.
Welcome to the board. Coil life is affected by many things: Wattage, type of juice, etc. In general, high watts, and dark, thick and sweet juices shorten coil life. In general, though, it's not particularly predictable. Those things are made on automated machinery by the tens of thousands; and in China where they are not famous for what an American would consider QC. You get what you pay for. If it's starting to bother you, try using the RBA deck in the mini and make your own. That's what I do.

Greetings everyone. I'm pretty new myself (just got an account 5 mins ago), but have been happily vaping for a couple of months now.

To be honest I'm completely clueless in the field of vaping, and all I know is that my device, which was a gift, is one of the few crowd favourites. I'm using Kangertech with the mini subtank. My only pet peeve is the rather bulky battery that comes along with it. Anybody else using the same one?

I believe you may have the Kanger Subox Mini Kit (which comes with the Subtank Mini tank).

Hello and welcome to the forum @Anadri. Glad to have you here!:)

Here are the specs on the original Evic VT (before the firmware update).

Resistance Range
  • 0.05-1.0ohm for VT mode (temperature control mod)
  • 0.15-3.5ohm for VW mode
I'm not even sure what VT mode or VW mode is. But it will do .2? Cause the store here is doing 5 .2 coils for 10 bucks due to some sale going on. As for the liquid I'm doing a 87/13. They put just enough pg in it to make the flavor right and did the most vg they could. Whatever that means, I don't complain it was free.

You mod can run in two different modes:
  • VT = temperature control mode. Coils have to be made of NI-200 wire (or possibly titanium if the eVic VT supports it).
  • VW = Variable wattage (or power) mode. Coils are usually made of A1-Kanthal wire.
If the 0.2Ω coils are Kanthal you may find the vape hot if you are not use to direct lung inhaling.

87/13 basically means there is 13% flavoring since most are PG based. Just a piece of advice, just because a mod will do .15 or .2 doesn't mean you need to drive it that low. Most have a sweat spot where they perform at there peak. According to steam engine the evic is around .7. It wont be long you will be winding your own anyway. Vaping is addictive

I just about exclusively inhale directly.

Yes that's the one that I got! I've got the white one and it's amazing! I recently cracked my subtank but thankfully I was able to get a replacement from an online vendor and have it shipped to Singapore. Another day saved!
