So I decided to get into DIY juice. I thought I would just make a thread and update it as I go! Perhaps someone may find my experience's useful to them, as I found other's useful to me. Kind of a way to give back.

Equipment purchased:
Syringe's 1ml x8, 5ml x4, 10ml x2 (painted over measurements with clear finger nail polish to make sure they stay)
Blunt tip luer lock needles 14 gauge, and 16 gauge 1.5" long
Flavoring various TFA to make recipes
Recipes from others to try
3 x 10ml flasks
1 x 50ml beaker
120ml 60mg nic base
1 quart usp pg and vg
4 x glass stir sticks (must admit they just sound neat)

Thus far I have only mixed 3 10ml bottles of juice. In doing that I found that i only used the syringe's and did not need the flasks or beaker. I mixed up Uno mas's peachy glee, Proetus's banana cream pie, and Proetus's Mellon Balls. I used Breaktru's ejuice me up calculator to figure measurements and mixed all 3 at 18mg 50/50 pg/vg. Having tons more syringes seems like it would be helpful thus far. I had to wash/rinse them between each juice I created. I used four x 1ml and 3 x 5ml as I went along mixing. I found most things at wizardlabs, however amazon had better prices on pg and vg.

I will let these steep a bit thinking a week and then see how they turned out. I picked about 12 recipes to try out and have all the flavorings to make them. Hopefully the flasks and beaker will come handy for mixing 30ml bottles.

Is it bad I already have about 25 more flavors I want to buy, and I need to find bulk glass bottles somewhere in 10ml, 30ml. I need to find a good way of doing labels currently I am using blue painters tape . Any recommendations on bottles or labels would be great!

Those 10 and 50 ml are most useful for mixing batches of flavor without needing syringes or droppers. Some people premix and then add a % of the mixed flavoring rather then mixing it up bottle by bottle. This also provides greater consistency across the whole batch and allows you to modify the flavor without having to tweak a dozen bottles.

As for bulk bottles this is the best deal your going to find 1oz Amber Glass Bottles for Essential Oils with Glass Eye Dropper - Pack of 12: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

There are wholesale sites with cheaper prices on lots of about 50 or more. But for say 12 or 24 bottles once you factor in the shipping Amazon is cheaper.

I found 20 -3ml syringes with blunt tip needles on e-bay for $12 shipped that come in very handy for flavors when making multiple recipes in one mix session. That being said I'm thinking of getting a box of 100 of 1ml syringes (for flavors - 1 for each 1 and some left over) - seems like they can be had for a reasonable price. I'm going back to Michigan in a couple of weeks and I have two daughter in-laws that are nurses so I'm holding off until I see what they can do on that front :D . On the flavor front, I have 60 different flavors from TFA and it seems like I can finally make just about any recipe I see without having one of them missing. ;)

Good Luck in your DIY Adventure :toast:

Cheers,
Steve

I got blue bottles because they are pretty so I think getting glass stirrers because they sound neat is cute.

Have fun. Be safe. I must have 40 flavors but I admit that I mostly use whip cream, juicy peach, honey [just a dash in the 555], em, caramel, ta, ap, vanilla and m-type, ry4 type and 555 type tobaccos.

I do occasionally make cinnamon Danish or use cantaloupe but, when I get motivated, I try something new sometimes. Was it a bit of a waste getting flavors I don't use much? Not really because trying different combos is still part of the fun for me even if I have settled on three tobacco fave recipes..

Well its going on a week of steeping, tasted all three today

Two did not turn out how I thought they should almost as if the flavors are not mixed up well just yet. I have been just steeping and shaking them daily. I ordered an Ultra Sonic Cleaner (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E5PCX1A/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) It should be here soon. That should aid in the steeping.

It seems patience is a big part of DIY, you mix and want to try your creations but yet they need to steep! Hopefully I can speed that up some soon.

I picked up the bottles that were recommended! thanks for the tip on syringes too. My Walgreens pharmacy sells them at $0.25 a piece but they don't have larger gauge needles.

I have a few more recipes to try so hopefully I will get some more DIY recipes started in the steeping process. Does anyone know the difference between the glass and plastic bottles other than the obvious? Is there a reason to use one over the other?

I have some plastic needle tip bottles on hand, and just ordered 20 or so glass ones. I guess I can mix the same recipe in each and see if there is a noticeable difference.

I was also wondering if the recipe percentage would change depending on the size of the bottle, or is 5% still 5% in a 30ml or a 120ml mix?
