So I'm looking into purchasing a Releaux. I see there are two different types. One is about $150 and contains the DNA chip and the other is about $50 and contains a joyetech chip. I understand that the DNA is one of the best chips, but is it worth the extra $100 over the joyetech? I'm not finding much info comparing the two.
At the moment I'm using a Sigelei 150w and Zephyr Buddha RDA with most of my builds coming out anywhere between 0.15-0.2 Ohms using VTC4 batteries.

Any help on this matter would be appreciated. Thanks!

I bought the RX200 originally as I was intending to purchase the dna200 version and wanted to know how I'd get on with the form factor. I now have 3 more RX200's on the way and won't be getting the dna version anymore as while the dna is a decent chip I want to control all aspects of my vaping from the mod not be tied to my PC and software and for me the dna is too reliant on the escribe software. I recently bought an ml class and while that also has software the mod works out of the box with all the features I need for my vaping on the mod. It depends how much you want to play around with settings as to which one you get but the quality of vape between the dna and joyetech chip certainly isn't $100 better.

Great thanks for the quick answer! I do enjoy messing with things like that, but I don't think I would enjoy it so much as to warrant an extra $100 added on to the price tag. Looks like I'll go with my gut and purchase the Joyetech one.

i just heard grimmgreen prefers the regular chip, non-DNA
GrimmGreen also said he'd never subohm, he also said he'd never get into temp control.. I could quote alot of things he said.

I can tell you from experience (I own both) one is much better than the other, that said unless you really like to tinker you have to weigh your options if you like a fine tuned vape and like to tinker then the DNA maybe for you. If you like to USB charge you'd be much better off with a DNA since it has built in real time monitoring and balancing something the RX lacks. Also, it's 100 dollars more if all you care about is vaping and don't want to fiddle then skip the DNA and grab the RX.

Two completely different devices for completely different people, the devices just happen to share the same shell.

i'm beginning to feel like GG is a bit hypnotized by all the fancy 200 dollar mods he has sent to his door each month... his top 5 list of mods barely dips under 150 bucks... is he even trying/using mods that we're all using these days, like the subox or the evic mini anymore? ive commented on his videos asking "what happened?? you used to LOVE a mech mod at 30-35 watts?? he replied stating "Things change" basically. :p Cant watch his vids without feeling like he's a reviewer for high-end mods these days.. yeah, hes still using/reviewing/liking mass-production mods and tanks, but, idk. the feel of his vids has changed. I can remember when he said he didn't want to fiddle with rebuilding, and when he said he didn't like the unsafe nature of subohm builds. lol.

sometimes i wish we could go back to the days of his green silver bullet, and "the ego spinner, a game changer!" haha.

The DNA200 is for the vape hobbyist, casual vapers will be better off with the RX200. However, you are not tied to your PC and Escribe with the DNA. All major functions and adjustments are available thru/at the mod. With Escribe you have a tremendous amount of adjustability and utilities, and for mod makers and coil builders the tools are extensive and useful. Look here; Manuals, Instructions, Tutorials, Master FAQ list - Links and Downloads - DNA 200 Early Adopters Forum if you are interested. I have an Hcigar VT200 and using Escribe I have learned so much and had my eyes opened to aspects of vaping that I did not know existed. That said, I have an RX200 that I really like for a stay at home mod. Some things have been cleaned up with the last couple of updates, and rumor has it that TCR adjustability is coming.

Great info everyone. Thanks! I am having a bit of trouble deciding. The DNA 200 sounds very appealing with the customization and tweaking it allows, just not sure if I want to spend an extra $100 for it. I do see that they sell the DNA 200 chips separately so could I buy one and install it in the Joyetech Releaux at some point in the future? The bodies of the two look identical so I'm guessing I could just install a new chip in it at some point.

The LCD window doesn't match correctly, you'd need to file that down.

You should read this:
http://evolvapor.forumchitchat.com

Sign up and they'll confirm your account lots of info you don't need to buy first. There is tons of info and users with the DNA version if you just want to buy the board and do the conversion later.

Not to get too off topic, but I've been interested in building my own mod for a while. The DNA 200 sounds like a great chip to use, but how do I choose a "shell" that fit the chip and the screen in it. Google isn't really giving me any answers. Would I have to physically cut the correct size slot to fit the screen in (in a custom box)

Great thanks a lot! For some reason my search skills were seriously lacking. Anywhere you would recommend to purchase the actual chip?
I'd buy direct from the horse's mouth:
EVOLV - Home

But if they're out of stock just search online, many stores buy the chip and resell them for the same price. Doesn't matter where you buy you'll get the 1 year warranty.

Ya I just watched his best of 2015 a couple days ago and when he got to the RDA's he was ranting about how he was not sent a Velocity so he hasn't bothered to even try it.

Sounded butthurt and honestly just ridiculous. Not saying the Velocity deserves top spots or anything just saying it's kind of lame how he put that out there. "I didn't get it for free so forget it I'm not even gonna try it *blows raspberries*"

I appreciate the help. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Looks like going the DIY build route is going to cost me close to the Releaux. I'm actually kind of leaning towards the DNA 200 vs. the Joyetech. I've owned an IPV4S which lasted me 3 months before the screen died, a Sigelei 100w+ that has a murderous sticky button issue, and currently a Sigelei 150w TC. It would be nice to own a higher end mod and I already really enjoy tinkering with things. Every piece of hardware in my computer is overclocked and water cooled :)

The DNA 200 seems like it would be better for the 0.15-0.20 sub ohm'ing I do daily.

You have to remember if you DIY you'll also need some wire, a fat daddy 510 connection and misc other things. If you just want a DNA why not just go to a place like VapeNW they have the Mod for 150 shipped to your door with 3 free batteries .

Reuleaux DNA 200 Mod by Wismec $149.95 (3 FREE LG or Samsung Batteries)

You won't build yourself a mod for much cheaper than that. If you're an overclocker / modder this is the board for you!

That is a great price! How are those batteries? I was planning on picking up six VTC4's since I sub ohm pretty low.

They send out either 25r or LG HE4s that's what they have posted anyway I got mine a while ago, both being 20amp batteries. If you want to go really low I'd go with the VTC4s.

Here is great site with authentic VTC4s for 6 bucks each.
18650 Sony US18650VTC4 2100mAh High Discharge Flat Top - Batteries - Batteries, Chargers, and PowerPax Carriers

They'll ship out the free batteries either way, maybe you can use them as an extra backup.

Great! Just ordered 6 of them and it came out to $43 after shipping. Not bad for a great battery. I think I'm going to go ahead and buy the DNA Releaux now before I change my mind again haha
