I'm new to all this but my introduction to it has been so shaky to say the least. I first bought a mystic e cig from walmart which is good but cartos are expensive and the batteries don't last that long and the cartos are expensive. I decided to upgrade to Totally wicked titan 510 tank and that has been completely disastrous. I've had leaking tanks which have messed up my batteries. I started using the small clearomizers from an mall kiosk, which worked for a while but now I believe they are dying. batteries are taking forever to charge. I was a smoker and I wanted to to get off analogs but at the amount of money I'm spending on batteries, cartos/clearomizers, and liquid, it's hard to justify the cost comparatively to analogs. I really don't want to make this an expensive hobby. Can anyone chime in here and give me some simple ideas on a reliable setup that won't go down the toilet in less than a week?

thank you

The larger x2 battery will last all day and comes in a manual style that can handle some juice leaks. It's regulated so it puts out the same amount from start to end. I believe there's also a 3 month warranty on these. Costs 20 bucks with a charger cable and also works as a pass through. The Smokeless Image cartos are really nice (and available in a cool stainless steel color) and the company itself has a nice reputation for great customer service. There's a whole lot of other stuff out there but I think you could do a lot worse.

ok I personally like pv's like the odyssey, as when the battery dies and all batteries do die it is replaceable without replacing the whole unit. the 14500's are not as small as say the volt 78 mm battery but they are not very big either. So unless you just really want vv, I would go with the odyssey but *most* people like vv.

Hi Dorian,
The Odyssey is what is known as an APV or mod - a device that has a removable battery basically. You will need to read up a bit about battery saefty with mods: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...9007-warning-rechargeable-batteries-apvs.html

If you want an ordinary pv that is reliable there are several good models. The Volts are good for out and about - they are smaller cig sized pvs. They do make a bigger Volt X2 which comes in three sized and they last for hours of vaping. These are 808 threaded. I use the Volts and Volt X2s myself.

Or you may want to buy something like a KGO. Hoosiers has them on sale.

There's also variable voltage KGOS, the Vison Spinner, or the Ego twist.

are the 14500 something you can pick up anywhere like a AA or something?

You want either protected batteries or IMR, depending on the device, but the IMR are concidered safer. While the 14500 are about the size of "AA" batteries never use regular batteries in a pv

I'd shy away from the Odyssey just because you have to use the proprietary delivery system. Get something with 510 threading, there's tons of stuff for 510. If you don't want VV and want a tube mod, something like the Bolt would be cheap and rugged. But, I'd recommend the Twist first. You'll find out if you like VV and be getting a reliable battery too. Stick a Vivi Nova or cartomizer on top and you're good to go. Just make sure you have lots of backups if you really want to quit smoking.

Not sure who you're replying to - I also said Hoosiers, who have these on sale:
KGO kit1100mAh by SLB

Or check out the ECF suppliers page - link at the top of the forum. Lots of good vendors there if you care to research a bit.

The Odyssey doesn't have a proprietary delivery system. It uses XL length (45mm) cartomizer with a flange, similar to tank replacement cartomizers found elsewhere. It's basically a carto/tank system with glass tank.

Without getting into the politics, it's not a bad kit, it's just somewhat overpriced. I can put together a good kit together for 100 dollars, sure. 14500 VV eGo comes to mind, so you don't have to deal with the disposable batteries (eGo twist and the like), glass tank and cartos + some AW 14500 IMR + charger. It just won't come in a nice box like the Odyssey or have a unified look, or come from one website (more like 5 websites for best price, at which point the shipping cost would probably eat away any savings).

I like the idea of the volt x2. The passthrough idea makes alot of sense to me rather than switching batteires. However, Smokeless image clearomizers for this model seem to be out of stock.
How hard is is it to get tanks/clearomizers to fit it if they are out of stock. I don't want anything that is proprietary or too obscure.
Would a ego-c passthrough 1000mah be comparable. thanks for letting me pick your brains. Like I said, I'm really concerned about finding a reliable setup.
