Does anyone know how to do this? I have about 5 dead 510 batteries that I would rather dissassemble than actually BUY the connectors to use for mods.

I have no idea how to get these things apart.

Thanks,

Ragman

I have done 5 of them this way.... You need a carto screwed on to get the leverage.

Just screw on a carto, hold the battery and then wiggle and pull the carto.

It takes a bit of pulling, but the battery connector will pull off.

I personally used a metal cutter and cut through the body after i gutted the insides from the LED side and started cutting through... takes a little while especially towards the end where the battery connector is. Try not to use pliers to pull em out tho, destroys the vents.

ahhhh!! I dont wanna destroy the vents.

what are the vents in the battery connector?

I know this is a silly question, but where will the battery top separate from the body of the battery "container". I was told it's a press fit, but they must use one heck of a press to put these batteries together. I don't have an atty that I'm willing to use for fear of damaging it, so I've been using the cone. Am I barking up the wrong tree using the cone? I just can't seem to see where the top separates from the body.... HELP!!
Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated...... Thanking you in advance.... Horton

If you look at the pic below you will see a little lip on the right side...everything to the left of that lip is inside the tube.

Don't forget - they are glued in there too...
Pick which you want to destroy - the dead atty or the dead battery - use that end to pull on after screwing together..

So, if you want the battery end, screw an atty into it, heat in hot water or with a hair dryer, or heat gun, (but I assume that we are going as low tech as possible?) Cover anything you want to keep pretty with tape or something to prevent marring and start to wiggle on the atty with pliers or what have you... Eventually it'll come loose....

All in all; I find it easier to just order new ones! :)
