I didn't smoke in my own vehicle since I always disliked the smell of smoke in a car. The vehicle recently bought for company use came from an auction and the previous owner was obviously a heavy smoker. We cleaned the whole thing thoroughly and used Febreeze. Smoke smell was gone UNTIL it got hot. I started vaping in the vehicle hoping that would overtake the smell. It has but I still smell the smoke smell under the vape smell.

I'm guess some here have gone through the process of removing smell from a vehicle PERMANENTLY, what is the quickest way?

I remembered there was a thread on this a while back. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...7-any-tricks-get-smoke-smell-out-c-car-2.html

I hope you find a solution. One of the things that were talked about, the vents. Good luck!

Change the cabin air filter. Most likely, the reason you're getting the smell now is because you're running the A/C system harder and the gunk is getting pulled through the system more. Changing the filter and maybe giving it and the vents a shot of deodorizer should improve the scent.

ETA: Lots of people think their car's A/C needs service when all they really need is a new filter. Those things can gunk up in a hurry even in a non-smoking car, but instead of $20 for a new filter, they'll spend $100 on "service."

Thanks Robin. I guess I didn't clearly phrase the fact that I thought the issue was in the vents. I wasn't aware there is a cabin filter, now that I watched a youtube vid on my vehicle, I know I can not only replace the filter, but that is also probably where I want to put the deodorizer. I have Febreeze and an old bottle of some stuff that is allegedly designed for smoke smell in a box somewhere.

ETA: I see IBCR and glasseye gave good input while I was slowly typing this. Thanks

Possibly a good auto detailer one that steam cleans the seats and carpets. It might be worth the 100$ they charge to get the smell out. you might make a trip to Ford or any auto dealer Im sure they have tricks to remedy this problem or can recommend you to somebody who cleans their used cars for resale.

I use this for this for my house. I put it in a room with a big fan and close the door then move on to next room and so on. They have small fans so I just have a bigger fan to spread it around. Do not be home when you do this. Set timer and leave the house.

If you have a garage with an electrical outlet just shove this in the car for a few hours.Be sure to have the vents open. After all done ,run car with air vents open and AC running before you get in the car at least another 15 minutes after the additional hour that the Ozone generator is off.

Alos..do not enter home or car at least a hour after it shuts down.

Amazon.com: MicroLux ML4000D Series Home HEPA Ionic Ozone Generating Air Purifier Cherry: Home & Kitchen

You might have to do it several times for each room but usually works one for your car being it's smaller than a room in a house.

You might also notice a bad smell for a day or 2 after running it but that will go away.Just stick it out.

Real estate brokers use ozone generators when selling a house by a previous owner who smoked..I know this for a fact because my friend (broker) owns one ( this is how i found out about them ) that is custom made by some guy on the web..works way better than these .

I'll ask my friend and find the info if anyone is interested.

Leave a small bowl of vinegar sitting on the floor overnight. The next morning, just air the car out and your smoke smell should be gone.

I hate vinegar to this day my Mom made us clean the storm windows in the spring with vinegar before putting them up for the summer and again in the fall she also set it around the house in small bowels sometimes. I always thought the vinegar was worst than the smell she was trying to get rid of;-)

I'm with Gerick- but you don't have to buy one at $170. Ask around, chances are you have a friend who owns one of those ionic Pro air purifiers. They work great on smoke smell- I used to have 4 running in my house all the time. Plug it in, set it in the car overnight with the door mostly closed and by morning it should be gone. Also, I second the "change the cabin filter" suggestion. Easy and cheap, and it's probably a big cause of the problem.
