Hey there,

Iam eagerly awaiting the arrival of my first reo.
Sooooo now i want to order some batteries for it, of course.
I read through a lot of threads but iam still in doubt which batteries to get.

To make one thing clear first iam getting a reo grand lp.

If i get flat tops, do they still need extra care or magnets on them?
Or do they work just fine with the newer reo contacts?
Cause iam thinking about getting some Lg hg2 if flat tops are ok.

Or if i get button tops which one to get then?
Aw 2200? Sony Vtc 4? Samsung 25R?
My goto battery supplier doesn't carry the Aw 1600 so i'd say that rules them out.
I would only think about getting them from elsewhere if you guys here think that these are the best option.

Depending on the reosmods website i guess the Aw 2200 would be the best pick, am i right?

I think most of my builds will range between 0.5 ohms and 1.5

I'd appreciate your help with this ever returning question

hello kendo...IMR 18650 1600 or 2200 mah should do the trick.Thats all I have run in all of my reos. You should be good to go..rtd vapor is a good place to get them also,enjoy your new reo my friend..

I'll just offer my opinion, which some will disagree with. The Metal Reos were designed to be used with button top batteries. Many folks use flat tops in their grands, because some of the flat tops that are available today will exceed the storage capacity of the AW1600 and 2200. However, in my experience, the more frequent problems users have with contact pitting, battery positive pitting, and contact arcing, come from those who are using flat tops. Some people remedy the issues by placing an extra Reo door magnet on top of their flat top batteries, thus making them into a button top. In addition to the more frequent pitting and arcing, the button throw with flat tops, if used without the aforementioned magnet, is longer than it is with button tops. When I first started using Reos, I tried flat top Sony VTC5s for a while, and I didn't care for the button travel, even though I frequently applied Deoxit Gold to the top contacts.
My advice: Either use the button top batteries, or, at the very least, get some spare door magnets, if you are set on using flat tops. Also, get some Deoxit Gold, keep your contacts clean, and apply a bit of Deoxit frequently.

Thanks for your opinion.
So it still holds true that button top batteries equals less maintenance?
Then i'd prefer the button tops of course.
I will use the reo only at home, so i don't care that much about capacity.
That would narrow it down to the Aw 2200, Vtc4 or the Samsung 25r.
What do you think are the Aw 2200 the way to go then?

First, congrats on your first REO!
I am currently using the AW 2200's in my two Grands. With as low as a .3ohm dual coil build, they last as long as a REO bottle does. Refill bottle & swap out battery at the same time, works out nicely.

I tried VTC4s one of the Grands, like Rule, I didn't care for the extra throw length, just felt wrong.

With the build range you stated, I would say that the AW 2200's will do just fine.

Hi and congrats on your first Reo. I buy my AW batteries from RTD..awesome guy. I use 1600's exclusively in my Reo Grands. It's what everyone here suggested when I started, and many seem to still use. I tried and did not care for some of the higher mah AW batteries, and went right back to the 1600's.Good luck and hope you enjoy the Reo.

As RueDawg said, the AW2200s will do just fine. I use them in my Grands, and I generally build at approx .4 ohms. The 2200s are 15A continuous discharge batteries, and this gives me sufficient safety margin. They are actually rated as a 20A, but according to Mooch's testing, he rates them as 15A. The AW1600s have slightly higher CDR rating, at 24A, but at the sacrifice of some storage room (1600mAh vs 2200mAh), which means you'll need to swap batteries more often.

As I said in another theread, all I use is the AW 1600 mah batteries in all my devices. They really are quality batteries! I've never had a minutes trouble out of these and they are about a year and a half old.

It's interesting to note that, regardless of vendors' and manufacturers' claims, there are actually only 2 legitimate 30A CDR batteries. Both are LG, but only 1500mAh. The next highest is the AW1600, at 24A.

At .4 ohms, the amp draw on a fully charged battery, at 4.2 volts, is 10.5 amps. Even if the AW2200 battery is only a 15A safe continuous discharge battery, there is still some headroom for a .4 ohm build. It depends how much headroom you are comfortable with. I've used AW2200s with .4 ohm builds, and never was concerned about it. But obviously, the AW1600s provide more safety headroom, at 24A CDR, if you're willing to sacrifice about 30% in storage capacity.

You'd be fine with the 2200's from your regular supplier. RTD is prolly the best supplier for the 1600's. If you want button tops, no need to look further.

Flat tops will work fine, but we've never seen a "help, my battery is pitting" post from a AW.

Very true. Being the OCD type that I am, I used to experiment with exactly how much juice I'd use, with a typical .4 ohm build, before my battery dropped below 3.7 volts, and it was time to change. I'd carefully measure my juice with a syringe, and put it in the bottle. With the AW1600s, I'd go through about 4ml, when the battery would drop to 3.65v. With the AW2200s, I'd go through about 4.25ml. Not really significantly more.

Congratulations on your first Reo! Pictures once you get it (kind of a thing here).

Just a warning: Once you get your first Reo, you will be obsessed with a second. Without thinking, you will stalk the Reo site (saying to yourself, "I'm just browsing).

I too thought I would only use my Mini Reo "at home." I started vaping when tube mods were "it" and I was enjoying the company of a couple other US made tube mods. Also somewhere I got the idea that a Reo would leak in my pant pocket if I went out with her. (Unfounded, like most of my assumptions).

Then one day it hit me that I could have the flavor and ease of a Reo ALL the time. I got educated on the front jean pocket issue and then....

I really have to thank all of you for your input despite the fact that the whole "which battery do i have to use for mod xy" is a neverending story for sure.
You are great people here.
It really helped me with my decision.
I went for the Aw 1600.
Already ordered them
I had to order them from a german vendor, cause i forgot to mention that iam actually from Germany.

Got myself a dicodes dani v2 last month.
And this month the reo.
So i have quite some stuff to play around with at the moment.
But i never say never
