Newp.....quite the opposite! Just lettin folks know how high quality it is. Or at least that's what I was trying to do. lol

I knew what you meant, just had to pick on you a little bit :)

I am so happy for you. You have a lovely Reo and the Marquis is a wonderful topper for it. Wish I could have been there when you took your first vape from it with a better coil!

LFS sounds interesting. Debian is pretty customizable. That's why I started using it, but there are limits to just how much you can throw away and replace.

debian is good if you have a unique architecture, but then you need everything else to have free drivers or at least generics that won't limit it

i did the full circle into deeply geeky, settled back on a n00b xubuntu set up. i enjoy reformatting twice yearly, but not needing to do daily updates. the patches they apply suit me. arch was fun for a few years though, there's a satisfaction that comes with compiling kernels

i'm waiting for vaping shinyitis to do that, it is my standard cycle to obsessively geek out a few years, then settle on simple/what i have. but for now i'm looking forward to this tmod

There is something to be said about compiling everything from source, including bootstrapping. No matter what distro you usually run, you will really see your system performance improve with LFS. LFS is not someone elses distro, it is your own.

I used Debian at one time. apt is an excellent tool. There was nothing like it until yum came around.

i get really confused using windows or mac now, been about ten years since i did regularly, nothing newer than xp

i like my tiling window managers is probably the main hook for me these days though

I have mine setup pretty basic. I don't really like a lot of bells and whistles. It basically looks like a 64 bit Windows XP. I started using ubuntu in 2009 when I couldn't find a wifi driver for a laptop I had when I was trying to install XP on it. After using it for a few months I just switched over.It was just a lot faster and less hassle. I went to Debian when Ubuntu went to the launch bar. I think that was about version 12. I never liked a launch bar and it was a resource hog IMO.

I can be a pain at times. I installed Windose 8.1 in Virtualbox so I can run stuff that doesn't play well with Debian. Mainly Netflix and Family Tree Maker. I haven't really put much effort into getting Netflix going on Debian. I probably should.

i set up a dual boot just to install odin [samsung firmware stuff] that won't play with wine

haven't got around to it yet

got me thinking what to install on this incoming lappy now

and i pretty much stick with firefox for the vimperator extension, the favouring keyboard over mouse thing again.
