Rev said he was buying dogs. I asked what kind. I'm not wanting another dog. I have my puppy, and she is a handful. She just turned 8 months old. She is half GSD, and half Aussie. If I do get another dog, it will be a much smaller dog. At this point, my one dog is fine. I still take care of my son's old dog. He has health issues, and I'm afraid he doesn't have much time left. My son is in the military. My dog was supposed to be my constant companion. I thought she would want to be mostly a house dog. But she would rather be outside just about all day. It is too boring in the house for her.. She comes in before dark, and stays in the rest of the night though. I think this summer, she will want to be in the house all day though. She hates heat. I got her last year on Sept. 10th. She only wanted to be outside to relieve herself, then come straight back to the house. She is losing her winter coat still. But the heat is already getting to her. She has hair about the length of a GSD. (not a long haired one either)

Good evening everyone :). Hope alls are well.
Kkay why not rescue a mutt ? It's hard to recomend a dog breed for someone without knowing enuf about their lifestyle. Me I'm a lab Pitty Rotti type :)

Oh how I loved Foster Brooks! the lovable lush!! Red Skelton too!!! I miss comedians like that......they were hilarious without being nasty! When great comedy was a true art!! Now it's mostly insult people and say F every other word

I thought she would want to be mostly a house dog. But she would rather be outside just about all day. It is too boring in the house for her..

Both of the breeds in here were bred to be really active, so am not surprised!

People really need to consider their lifestyle and what a dog was bred to do when choosing a breed, but few think about it much. Not at all criticizing anyone, so hope it doesn't sound that way, just tossing it out there as hopefully a helpful tidbit to anyone thinking about getting a dog.

Hope everyone is having a great Friday!!!!

Deb, you didn't bother me at all. I used to have a white GSD when I was young teen until I was grown. She died when I was in the USN. She loved being in the house. If you exercise the dog, they should be fine in the house. My family also had a black and tan GSD when I was very young. Most Aussies require more exercise than a GSD. But I had planned to give her exercise and train her. I thought that might be enough. She is unusually smart, and needs more mental stimulation. I couldn't afford a full blood dog this time around. It is rare to find a good mix like this. I didn't want a Heinz 57, because I wanted a companion, trainable, and for protection. I did puppy tests on her, before choosing her too. She passed my tests with flying colors.

good, cuz it wasn't aimed at you at all! yeah most dogs adapt and the instincts are certainly stronger in some than in others. But so many times folks wonder why a dog does a certain thing, just thinking it's being naughty.......like my son's terrier who steals stuffed animals and chews them up......... but it's sorta what they're bred to do. yeah that's a behavior that needs to be corrected the right way and stopped, but it put a different light on it, when I pointed out he was kinda bred to do that. Ok, so he doesn't know a gopher from barbie doll, but that's beside the point lol People often find herding dogs herding their children and think the dog is being aggressive or dominant. Newp...just doin his job. (he thinks) lol

I have also known about 3 Aussies. None of them were like my dog. My dog is the most hyper dog I've ever owned. She followed me around, but didn't seem hyper, until she was a little older. She was very young when I got her. I am hoping as she gets older, she will settle down a little. But I won't hold my breath on it. I've had dogs all of my life. I had them around me since I was a baby. All kinds, full blood, mixed blood, shepherds, hunting dogs, you name it. My kids both had two dogs per kid. We had a literal pack here. When my old dog died, I waited several months, before getting another one. My son's dogs were very active. But when you brought them in, they were snuggle bunnies. I take my dog with me as much as I can. She likes to go visiting now and then. I haven't taken her fishing yet though. Something tells me she won't want to be still, and quiet, and "watch" me fish. She likes my friends, kids, and people I like. But she is also very protective. That is a huge plus. My old dog was a one family dog only. But I knew that, when I got her.

Hi KK, sorry I didn't answer earlier. I wasn't actually buying a dog, just listing one thing after another because that's what my day has been like. One thing after another. :)

Oh, I thought you said you were going to buy dogs. Maybe I mixed you up with somebody else. I have two cats here. One is my daughter's cat. She is ten. The other cat was dropped off here by either a mom kitty, or a person. I ended up keeping her. I think she was wild. She is an excellent huntress. I think she is four now. She loves it when I take the dogs out for their potty break. Because invariably a moth, or bug, will fly in. That makes her day. She loves to catch bugs. She is worth her weight in kitty chow just for that. Both are inside cats though. My daughter's cat mostly sleeps all day, and is very lazy. She lives to eat, and sleep.
