YUK Your right T ...good for the diet :w00t: And I LOVE(ed) chocolate

Quote .."For example, manufacturers can't allow more than 225 bug parts in 225 grams of pasta. Any less than 225 parts in that batch is ok for the FDA.

Realistically it's impossible to eliminate all bugs from food grown outdoors, no matter how small the manufacturer -- but there is a certain ick-factor involved with the idea that there could be maggots in your food in any amount or form.

On the other hand, pesticides and preservatives used to kill bugs and add shelf life to produce are much more harmful to consumers health than a few bug parts."
I recall the late great Steve Mcqueen in the movie "Tom Horn" sitting down to a fancy meal with lobster as the entree and referring to it as "the biggest bug I ever ate". Its all in how you look at it. Not many of us have ever been hungry.

so, for the hell of it, let's share hunger stories :)

one of the hungriest i can remember was when i took a snow survival class to finish off my 2 year requirement in order to transfer to a 4 year college. i was dirt-poor back then and barely scrounged enough from friends to stave off the cold. ran out of food the second day. then my snow-cave collapsed.

when we finally hiked out, somebody at the top of the trail had saltine crackers and, i think, bologna.

to this day, after eating at several five star restaurants, that remains the best meal of my life
