That looks pretty sweet. I've seen those when they first came out, but didn't buy one. I wanted to wait to see what others though about them first. I've been using the coil Gizmo for my 16" micros, and pin vices with various drill blanks for larger sized coils. I might go for one when they get them back in.

Good morning all! I really like that coil jig! Have never tried a jig yet. This one looks easier to use than some I have seen. I mostly use 14g blunt needles but there are times that I wish my coils were a little "neater". [emoji4]

Good morning Reoville!

How has all my Reo peeps been?

My life has been good. I'm not sure when the last time I was around was but I bit the bullet and did the one thing I swore I would never do again. I got married on Dec 27, 2013. The baby is now 14 months old and into everything.

These pictures are from Christmas Eve at my parent's house. We did ALL of Christmas there because we could get the trash out of the way as long as we were done before 1pm. The kids are with my father who lost an entire lung back in 2005 from lung cancer. This photo just might end up being one of the most precious ever. We were told that he had 5 yrs to live at time of surgery. In July, it will be 10 years. He spent most of this past year in the VA nursing home but he is back home now. He seems to be doing quite well now.

Yanno, I used to think time flying by was a sign of bein an old fart.......but it's not. We were just way less busy when we were kids. Even when my son was in HS 12 or so yrs ago......he often commented on how quickly time went by, and not just summers, but the whole year. But he stayed super busy. He was on several teams in JROTC, commander of a few of them, had a job, plus homework etc. Not to mention some social media. Now his wife keeps him plenty busy, they are always doing something. Am hoping he gets to rest this Sat when he's off. Things just didn't move as fast when we were young.

I like it when time moves slow as it means I'm relaxing (usually). More time on this earth means each day is less of a percentage of your life, which stands to reason your perception of how long a day is feels shorter (eg +1 for old fart theory :p ). It also seems you observe life faster when you are not focused on time - a slow day at work just DRAGS, but if your busy, or having fun it seems to FLY (at least for me :) )

i've seen those jigs, but for me the whole point f a jig is to get tension. not just close touching coils, but taught tense coils and the pen style jigs don't appear to do that

I haven't bought one because of this very reason. It is easier for me to use my coil gizmo and also chucking up a drill bit in the Milwaukee to get tensioned coils. If you had 3 hands it would be possible to get a tension wrap with one!!!

Personally I dont use a jig, but generally this is my approach for taught/tense coils:
1) wrap on drill bit, trap lead under left thumb between drillbit and thumb.
2) 1 tight wrap with alot of pitch to get past finger tips.
3) wrap coil tight: when holding the lead over the drill bit, I hold it to the left of where I want it to go, when the lead goes behind the drillbit I cross over a bit so when the lead is under the drillbit it is perpendicular with where I want it to be, keeping tension on the wire at all times.
4) on final wrap I add an extra half wrap as the coil will lossten when tension is losed
5) undo first wrap
6) install the coil in RBA as close as possible to the posts
7) pull coil with drill bit to make wraps tighter against the drillbit
8) check ohms
9) fire and resolve hotspots/loose wraps

Thats worked for me and I imagine even with these non tension coiling jigs 6-9 will tighten up the coil just fine. I can wrap just fine on a drill bit, so I doubt I'll ever get a coiling jig as long as my dexterity/vision/etc remains about the same.

Well, I didn't really need it but I thought the little coil winder looked cute and and colorful. Same reason I bought a leopard print bra last week.

Well, it's not freezing here. We're up to 39 degrees. Why am I still cold? All the stuff I had planned to do today has been postponed as I had predicted.

And as far as the funny video on waking up. . . One of my cats strategically tossed his kibble so that I would step in it on my way to tinkle, so that is how I started my day.

Hope everyone is having a lovely afternoon. I'm going for round 2 on coffee and keeping the reos close by.
