For users - Macs are nice , but bloody expensive.
Windows 7 has been their best offering in years, but they cannot make 2 good ones in succession, so 8 is crap and it's always been like this. This time they have decided to completely omit Windows 9 and just roll with 10.
Nice to see such confidence in a product no?
Then there is another group of users we can reasonably define as cheapskates, coders, computer techies and so on. Those are the people Linux appeals to.

so hows everyone doing tonight ?
Apple doesn't make low end devices. They cost about what you would pay for an equivalent pc. They also seem to last forever.
They omitted 9 because they have a ton of legacy apps/code that looks for version numbers 9x so for interoperability they skipped "9" so I hear anyway...

That's old enough. It was time for a new one. It's not the computer I fear buying, it's the newer operating system. I love my Windows7 and have resisted Windows8 like the plague.

I quit following at 8.0. Didn't know they had a supposed upgrade that worked.

Bathed all 3 dogs today so that's a good thing![]()
I doubt anything is trying to support 1
Interesting article, though I don't believe Microsoft success was credited to some stellar os, I think it was more their ability to get businesses onboard.

That that's what was put on my Mac. It's totally unavigatable and makes zero sense. I don't know why anyone would want such a joke for an os.
You are correct of course, nobody messes with 1.0 anymore. But you may well be surprised at how old some of the gear in current use is.
I have at work a machine running W95 (so it's a 20 yr old OS) and it's running right now! Controlling that is a W98 machine..
It's an old waterjet, where the computers outlasted the running gear, but the computers work just fine. I thought about turning them off...
