hmmmmm.....

I'm no scientist but the fact that the REO has a large squonk hole as well as a a juice cup (or well) which let's air ventilate thru the REO, I don't think it would be the kind of harmful blast that has occurred with tube mods! In fact, I highly doubt it would occur in a REO at all :thumb:

But as thesneakerhoarder and Della Cirque have wisely mentioned, it pays to use the manufacturer's recommended batteries :thumb:

I had this same thought a while back. Given how the Reo is made I don't see much danger. Even if a battery did go boom, look at what has to fail to have an injury. The door has really tight clearances so it might buckle a hair. There is also the aluminum rib separating the battery and juice compartment. The heart attack.... now that's a possibility.

I could be completely wrong, especially because I'm not a scientist or an engineer....but after all the reading I have done about battery safety, etc, it seems that when a battery goes...it either vents gas or flame. Do they really explode? Or is it the device they are in that explodes? It seems to me that the explosions you hear about is from a battery venting gas or flame in an enclosed or sealed environment....building up pressure in that environment until the weakest point fails (in many cases where the atomizer or charging connection is). Being that the REOs aren't sealed or fully enclosed, my guess is that if a battery were to vent or flame it would collapse the spring, melt the juice bottle, heat up the metal, discolor the anodizing on the inside and that is about it. I doubt there would be any increased pressure on the aluminum body or door at all. As I said...I'm no expert....so I could be wrong. :)
