REPAIRING WARN BATTERY THREADS

Hi all. My name is Rob (aussie) have been a member for a few years but this is my first post. I have been vaping for 5 years so not a new to the vape. I have two eleaf istick mini battery mods that i rotate. They are both about 12 months old and still in good working order though the thread has gone in both of them and I can't screw any model clearomizer into them.
Have tried fashioning silver paper around the 510 thread etc to get a connection and it works but not a very good long term solution. Is there a better way to repair these batteries as I don't really want to discard them as they still have plenty of life in them...I have been thinking about trying liquid metal etc...any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated....

have you tried a heat sink? It screws into the 510 and the atty screws into the heat sink. Helps dissipate heat away from the battery too.
Of course, since as you say, they are over a year old, you might just want to bite the bullet and replace them, and not tighten your attys with a pipe wrench. (half kidding) snug is good.. tight is bad.

by the way.. about liquid metal.. get one spec of that crossing the threads and pin and when you fire, you will literally fire.

The iStick 20w and Mini 10w are notorious for having soft 510 threads. I own 4 20w but I have used either a bending adapter or a 510 to Ego/510 adapter on all of them from the beginning so they still work after more than 2 years.

You won't be able to "repair" the threads. Fatdaddyvapes sells a 510 insert that requires you to drill out the threads and tap the hole to thread in the insert. Not worth the effort or cost on a disposable mod IMO.

Time for a new mod. There are lots of better ones with spring loaded SS 510 connectors for not much money.

If you want something tiny, the Vaporesso Target Mini is a good buy.

There is no good reason your threads should be worn in a year. You may want to question the force and alignment you use to tighten those atty's. With care those threads should last decades.

My istick 20 lasted 9 months,,with the bender, the threads were soft.

Try the istick30 or a tc40. Same vape, form factor, & SS threads..

I used the bottom part of an old airflow adapter (why did we ever want to decrease airflow????). Looks funny but the reservoir catches any leaks.

Moved on to the 30 ( for no good reason), then 40 ( Maybe use TC someday?). 30 is the best in my opinion.

I had the same problem with my Istick 20w. You want to be careful using silver paper and make sure it doesn't short out the battery. I use a strip (about 2 or 3mm wide) of thin card jammed between the threads and the atty. It'll work for a while till it gets wet with leaked juice and then it'll need replacing. Those 20w Isticks definitely had weak/soft threads - the 40w ones are much better.

I use these on all of my Isticks when I first got them.
Could solder an Adapter on.
I use Converter Adapters for 4 reasons:
1. Saves your mod's internal threads--wear protection.
2. Makes RDA easily finger accessible.
3. Claims to be adjustable for the hard to reach RDA contacts. Never had to adjust
with using this feature. Contact is positive with RDA and mod.
4. IF cross threaded, this decorative chrome plated brass will abrade rather than RDA (or mod if the adapter was not used). -- sacrificial thread

Will connect and correct almost any poorly thread or worn 510 thread connection.

You can also 'marry' a top-fill tank or RDA to a device and don't remove it.

Thanx for all the suggestions. I have already purchased a pico and pico mega but would like to keep the little mini's as a back up. Will try a few of the suggestions. I like the "heat sink" idea and already researching... thanx to all.
