I am a new convert to e-cigarettes. I have had some questions that I am sure have been asked a million times before.

Ask those old questions here, anyway. Repeats are fine. Just ask what's on your mind. Put your question up without worrying that it has been asked before. When you're making the move from tobacco to e-cigarettes, sometimes you just want a hand up without going through a lot of research to see if it was asked before.

Me, I did some research here before making the move, and I'm glad I did. E-cigarettes rock. Ask your question, as I am going to, with no fear :D

I was wondering how you all tell when a cartomizer needs to be refilled. Sounds simple, huh, but I am new. Also, when you refill one, how do you know how much to add before you've got a "feel" for it.

I bought a scale that measures to a hundredth of a gram. I weighed a new empty cartomizer, and a prefilled one that came with this Halo kit. 30 drops is the distance from new to full (as almost all of you know). As for how much juice to add when a cartomizer is running low, I know now by using the scale. Full is about 5.00 grams.

I had great help here figuring out initial nicotine concentration to get. 18 mg was great for me, whereas I thought I would be ok with 12. Anyway, I would like that there is a place you can ask any dumb question even if it was asked 5000 times before. Hopefully this is a good avenue here.

DC2, my first question was what nicotine level. I had already ordered stuff with the wrong amount, and now that I am trying it out, I know that 18 mg is right.

Also, about charging, got that figured out, I think, but things were said in "minutes" and I wondered what, 20 minutes means ... ??? I think I figured it out. About a minute per smoke, maybe a little less, but the term "minutes" I had no idea about.

Correct me if I'm wrong ... minutes means, about 12-15 drags per minute? Battery turned-on time is about 1 minute per cig? So 20 "minutes" means about the equivalent of 20 smokes?

My idea was that this would be close to a live chat, for the benefit of newbies like me. I know I would have liked a place to ask my newbie question without fear in a general chat scene, but I didn't know of one.

I suppose I am proposing a new kind of thread. An ask-anything thread. I didn't see any place to do that.

New to full will vary, depending on the carto you're using. Even with the same brand/model carto it can vary. I've pretty much stuck to Boge SR cartos for the last many months, and full can mean anything from 35 drops to 45 drops. I think it has to do with how tight the stuffing in it is.

And figuring out when to refill was a chore for me. I'd stop paying attention and not realize I needed to top off until I got that nasty, bitter, burnt flavor. Sometimes I can bring a carto back from that, and sometimes it has to go straight into the trash. These days I just top off each time before I go outside to vape (at work I vape outside, mostly) and call it good.

classwife, yeah I understand.

Getting the info I need as a newby was kind of hard. I didn't know where to look, where to put a question. I started in the newbies section, introduced myself. After that, when I wanted more info, took some work to figure out where I should put my question. My idea was a place to ask whatever question, without having to figure out where to put it, for people unfamiliar with the site. Anyway, just forget it. I am getting the hang of it, I think.

There will be a lot of new people with questions wondering where to ask them. If they don't know where to ask them, they might just not ask. Anyway, see ya.

Hopefully you're not turned off by responses but a great place to ask questions is the new members forum also I saw you asked about carts and seeing when they are done...the taste will change. Someone told me when the flavor is different from what you remember just stop and either toss the cart or fill it back up.

First off, since you just joined this month, welcome to ECF.

Secondly, don't feel bad. Questions are fine. And this is the 1st of many cool posts by you, so it's all good.

Third,

Battery duration is such a hit-and-miss subject, particularly with the cig-sized super mini e-cigs. Average atty/carto ohms, on an average battery, vaped for an average amount of time for an average person (getting the average idea?) is usually estimated around an hour per 100 mAh of battery rating. Usually followed by the term YMMV.

#cigs compared to vaping is even tougher since vaping is different, absorbtion is different, retention is different, and many people find that it just isn't the same. Many puff on e-cigs constantly whereas they didn't necessarily smoke constantly.

I'll leave carto filling to others. (Not fond of them, I use atomizers).

FYI - if you purchased 12 mg and find it's too low, you can mix it 50/50 with the same flavor PG/VG ratio 24 mg and end up at 18... that way you won't waste it. Or save it for late night vaping before bed to "cut down" before sleeping.

It's responses like this that keep me active on the ECF, in the end we are all looking out for one another.
