i didnt see an area well. i looked around. idk where to post it

since im about saving money atm.

so i buy 1.8-2.2 ohm heads for my pro tank. i notice after about a day it starts tasting umm...rough?

going through $3 a day on the head sometimes 2 heads so $6 ._. i vape alot...and atm its costing the equivalent to when i smoked analogs.

I was wondering. is it the coil or wick? can i replace the wick and itll be fine? how do i know if the coil is done?

I read people use cotton wicks and just pull out what comes in it as stock. and keep the coil for 3 weeks ._. replacing cotton wicks every so often. is it that simple?

Here's my advice.

First, your tank might suck. I had an AnyVape mini, and it burned up a head every day. I hate that thing. I tried a new tank (a KangerTech Protank II), and it has been using the same head for two days now with zero problems.

Second, you should only have to spend $1 per head or so. The local vape shop might sell them for $2-$3, but they are ripping you off. Buy them online - Kanger ProTank & Evod Coil Replacement **5 Pack - 2.2 ohms

Next, the heads can be cleaned or rebuilt. There are tons of articles, posts, and YouTube videos about this. Just look around.

Hope this helps. :)

Should be getting more life out of a coil head than that. How long do you let your juice saturate before the fist vape on a new coil head.? Let it soak up the juice for 10 minutes or so and this should help extend the life of you coil.

Replacing just the wick on a pt could be a pain, but possible, try cleaning the coil head in voda or mouthwash has been know to work. Can replace the flavor wicks, saturate with a few drops of juice and assemble and vape. There are a few threads on rebuilding a PT. but if you are going to get into rebuilding, then would look for a decent rba.

Every time I open the tank to top it off or refill it, I pull out the coil head, put it in a dish of cheap vodka to soak for several hours, and put a clean head in the tank after priming the wick with a couple of drops of the juice I'm using. The vodka helps dissolve juice residue left on the coil and wicks. I've had about 10 heads in rotation through 6 tanks for a couple of months. When a coil finally breaks, I'll put it in the bin of coils I'm planning to rebuild later.

how do you know when the coil is bad? i think i just burn through the wicks. and seeing how some people do it. it seems easy to replace. i can thread silica or cotton through the coil no problem...

i use an iTaste vv v3. atm i ahve a 1.8ohm coil. the itaste reads it as 1.9-2.0. i move wattage from 6-8watts depending on my mood. or ill put a 2.2ohm in that reads from 2.2-2.4 on the itaste and keep it at a 7.5watt

if the coils fine can i just re wick it all ._. or is it not that simple xD cotton and silica are cheap. if i can save the coil for even 3 days just changing wicks. itd be a god send.

Less vapor, less flavor or burnt taste no matter what you do are coil going bad, replacing wick with cotton or silica that people talk about is they built their coil with micro coil method so when the wick gone bad, they could replace it easily by thread new wick through the coil. If you interesting in micro coil, there a thread here started by super x drifter (if I remember his name correctly) and you also can go to watch how to on youtube. :thumb:

if you been shopping for coils at your local shop, most likely they give you knock-offs, that don't last as long as genuine Kanger coils.
Take above advise from fetalbounce.
I been using Kanger tanks and Kanger coils almost since I started, because right at the start I had a similar issue.
Some helpful person pointed me to DiscountVapers and those coils, now they last approx 7-10 days with proper cleaning and handling.

Your juice is a factor. Some juices gunk coils faster than others.
Also wicking is a factor. A starved coil gunks up/burns. And juice thickness matters in that equation too.
Then there's voltage. If you're overheating the coil, that wears it out faster...particularly easy with VV.
And air flow changes the vape, and people crank the voltage when they don't get enough air flow .

So basically...it's everything working together. And if you're gunking coils up after a day....I'd seriously look at all the factors starting with juice. Darker juices gunk faster as a general rule. Also thicker juices.

That doesn't mean you never have to clean a coil. So cleaning makes a difference too. Just rinse the coil under hot water and drying-burn it (just until the sizzle stops...don't "dry burn" and over-heat it unless you know what you are doing), repeat.

I used to get a month or two out of a standard atomizer coil with proper cleaning.

Also, the RBA/RDA, etc. trend is using heavier gauge wire. It holds up better...that's the wire, not the wick. Wicking is another issue entirely.

There's a lot to read up on. Have fun. :)

I'm here, when I'm here
I've never tried cotton wicks myself. I usually order wicks on line (Kanger Protank eVod atomizer heads in 1.8 2.2 and 2.5 ohm for $5.79Sun-Vapers.com). Fairly quick shipping at a flat rate. I ordered 15 and it works out to be about $1.36ea. A wick/coil lasts me about 3-4 days. Could, also, depend on your battery. I uas a Innokin itaste vv/vw and set the vw at around 7.5-8.5w depending on the juice I'm vaping.

Hope this helps and good luck.
