My dual coils have been uneven at best on my Rdas, it would be awesome if someone could share a technique to get the wraps even!
Well, first thing you need to concentrate on is getting your builds to the point where you can crank out matching coils. If you can't do that, dual coils are going to be a really rough road to travel. It also brings to mind the question of how good the quality of your coils is.
Now, you're leaving out the most important factors in rapid heating. This omission makes me suspect you might not be ready for dual coils yet but let's try to work through this.
1) What resistance are you aiming for? Are you hitting it?
2) What type of device are you using to power it, mech or regulated?
2a) If regulated, which one?
2b) Is it the same as you were using when you got good results?
3) What type of wire are you using?
4) What type of wick are you using?
Cool, now I can dig in a bit. Sounds like your instincts are good here.
1) Great choice on the Magneto resistance. A Igo-W is rated at 6 amps of current so you don't want to drop lower. 1.2 is not the best for the regulated. I personally prefer about a 2 Ohm but your mileage will vary and taste comes into play also.
2) If I were you, I'd try the 30 gauge on the regulated mod. That's a lot of wire and it takes time to heat up on a regulated device. I personally use something close to that but my use tends to be cigarette break like where I hit it hard. The first puff won't develop full power but it's fine after that. I'm a lung hitter though, if you're a mouth hitter, it's going to probably bite you harder since the wire won't have as much time to heat up.
2b) If your coils are significantly uneven you'll get worse results than you would with a single coil. The higher resistance coils will bleed off some of the power from your battery while not producing vapor and the lower resistance coil might run into wicking issues. It will also tend to load up with baked flavor faster and then you're really hurting.
3) I use two 7 wraps of 28 gauge wire wrapped around a cut off QTip with an Igo-W and it's about all the vapor I can take. You're dumping a lot more power into that Igo-W with the mech though than you can with the regulated mod. Theoretically, you'd be putting 24 watts into the Igo-W at .7 Ohms with a fresh battery, even more at 0.6 Ohms. The SVD is going to crap out around 11-12 watts of power on a fresh battery. So, you're attempting to heat more metal in the coil with less power. I'd switch it up and go with the 30 gauge wire on the regulated, 28 gauge is a fine choice for the mech.
In reality, you'd never get that with the Igo-W since you have voltage drop and losses in the connections so your atomizer is probably seeing 4.1 to 4.0 volts instead of the 4.2 of a fresh battery. One thing to caution you about though. I believe that the Igo-W is rated at a max of 6 amps of power so you're over the limit with a fresh battery and that 0.6 Ohm coil.
4) A fine choice, should work wonderfully when you get the rest dialed in!
I had a real hard time mastering the Aqua till I found out I was overstuffing the channels since I was running 5/64 coils. I switch to 1/16 dual micro coils, 10 wraps with 30 gauge and it meters at .8ohm, right where I want it, for my taste, runnining it hybrid mode on my brass origin. Vaping it right now actually. If you have needle tip bottles, the tips are the perfect diameter, and having 2 of them helps immensely to hold the coils in place and place them while tightening the post nuts. Keep at it, its a very enjoyable vape. I only run dual coils on mechs or my new DNA30 mod, I haven't found a good dual coil build that performs to my liking on a Provari, so I can't help you on that one for the VTR. I like my duals around 20-25 watts with 30 gauge.
My DUDE! I've been searching around for that exact info for SO long! None of the Aqua threads have it, on ECF or Reddit, or rebuildable vapes. How do you position/wick your coils? I've got mine vertical atm with cotton running in an x shape through the center, then crossing wrapping around the outside of the coils, and crossing to go down the juice channels. It's working pretty well, but I feel like it can do better. I'll try with the 10 wraps 30ga around the filler bottle tip right now! And yeah, my iTaste SVD is worthless, selling it ASAP. Probably would have sold my provari too if I hadn't lost it... I need a DNA30 mod but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
