Just as a note, I'm a board member of Vapers International. It's a real organization, formed a few months ago, to promote testing of the safety of nicotine vapor. The board and it's advisors consist of many respected members of ECF - Yvilla, Tropicalbob, Lacey, to name a few. If we felt this was some sort of scam or an exercise in futility, we would not be participating.
This testing is not for the purpose of getting PVs approved by the FDA. It's purpose is to show the true nature of the vapor for the personal knowledge of vaporizer users and for countering negative press releases and anti-PV legislation, such as including PVs in smoking bans. It would be a strong tool in our arsenal against anti-PV sentiments and bad press.
The study plan has been written, with professional assistance and IRBs have been approached. A lot of serious and hard work has been completed. The study has been reviewed by and has the support of well known "PV advocate" heavy hitters, Dr. Joel Nitzkin and Bill Godshall. I have read the correspondence between the chairman and these distinguished professionals. We just need to raise the funds for the study - which has been budgeted and we know how much we need to complete it - it's an amount that is within our reach. We just need to raise additional funds and get the word out.
The auction is an attempt to help achieve this goal and is most certainly not a scam or plan to troll ECF. It is meant purely to benefit ALL vapers - including the members of ECF.
Vapers International isn't just asking for help. We are asking for you to help us help YOU.
If this truly a fresh start, I strongly urge ECF to consider lifting the ban on VF members and any other punishments and especially reinstate those who have paid for ECF membership or refund their payment.
VF members understand that ECF rules need to be followed here and if they have any gripes or want to behave in a certain manner, they know to take it back to VF. If any misbehavior happens after reinstatement, then appropriate action should be taken.
I'm not saying that some people didn't deserve their banishment, but there are more than a few who were banned due to their beliefs or for simply being "annoying and pointless" and were banned without real cause. If someone didn't actually break any rules and were banned simply for expressing their feelings, they deserve a second chance, should they want it. This would kill two birds with one stone - if they aren't banned or have restrictions imposed upon them, they have no reason to want to "attack" ECF anymore. It would make the mod's jobs that much easier.
ECF should not look at VF as the enemy, but an ally in the fight for vapers rights everywhere. Extending the olive branch at this time, by reinstating former members, would help repair the rift and get us all going in the right direction. Please take the high road.
Thank you.
