resistance checking quick question

Im about to do my first coil build and my shop was out of stock of resistance ohm checkers. I have an evic supreme though so can I use that device to check instead. or is that dangerous.

depends heavily on the build.

If you're shooting for 0.5 ohms or higher, it should be fine to tell you whether or not you have a short, and what the final resistance is.

Less than that, I would be suspicious.

That's my basic standard. It's not the official story.

I don't have an Evic, but on my last 2 PV's I was able to do this-

- Partially screw the atty on

- hit fire button and release ( to turn on screen )

- finish screwing atty On and they'll read it.

Asked this question in the new members forum and the guys told me, I should get an ohms meter cos the coil coukd could short n damage my mod.

Do what r777r7r suggests. You shouldn't have any issues since the eVic supreme has output short protection.

Use the Steam Engine website's coil calculator to try and build as close to how you want your coil. Then you can use your device to check. Using a mod is fine in a pinch, but a dedicated resistance reader or DMM is better/best.

I got the very inexpenseive ($10) checker from Fasttech.com and rechecked it on a Sigelei with the same results. As long as you are checking it on something and not going to awful low, I think it should be fine. Just my 3¢ (inflation)

Cheers for advice. In Australia there arent many stores to buy these things and even the online stores are out of stock. So ill be trying to make the coil 1.5 to be safe and ill check it on the evic. and wait for the store to get stock.
whats that 8 or 9 wraps of 28 gague Aprox. Ill have to google that.

Get a digital multimeter. They're cheap, sold everywhere, and they'll measure your resistance, and your battery, too. You could even use it for repairs around the house.

9-10 wraps will usually give you a standard micro coil using 28g. Usually put out about 1.5-1.7 ohms? Someone correct me if I'm wrong

The gauge of the wire has nothing to do with it being a Macro,Micro or Nano coil, its the diameter of the coil that gives it its name.

If you are using a mini blue screwdriver or other 2mm jig you will be around your target of 1.5
