What is this? If I want 5 volts, do I use this?

Here's a good website to order resistors. http://www.tubedepot.com/resistors.html

They have a page of parts and you can order exactly the type you need. I've been using the 2 watt resistors for mods for a couple months now. Definitely go with the values that Cashmere suggested. 0.47 ohms for 3 volt batteries, 1 ohm for 3.7v batteries

BTW I have nothing against the voltage regulators, but they just don't last, and are much more expensive than resistors. All my regulators from Texas instruments died, some in as little as 2 days. One lasted a month, but that one was the fluke.

The first one I used died in about 5 days, the second one lasted me about 4 weeks, during which time I made another one for a supplier friend of mine, his crapped out almost right away, my second one died, I have made another but I don't use it much, cuz, it DIED! :) my 510 unit with a 2 watt .47 ohm resistor works like an MFing champ! I actually preferred the performance of the the regulated one, but one can only get so many free parts from TI. Resistors are like 12 cents and haven't died yet. For me, resistors all the way!

That's odd - mine have lasted a couple months now and still going strong.
