My father in law lost his battle with cancer today. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer back in July, 7 months after her retired. He immediately started chemo and radiation treatment to try and prolong his life for his kids and grandkids. Around October we had him move in to help him with day to day tasks. Day after day he fought but unfortunately got a little bit weaker as time passed.

We had all of the family come down this weekend because he asked where everyone was, by this time his kidney had started to fail. My wife slept with him nightly, beside him to comfort him, and to spend as much time as possible. This morning I was woken up by my wife stating that he had passed away.

Jeff introduced me to e-cigarettes after being a pack a day smoker for a handful of years. I tried many different kinds, vision spinners, provari, even tube mech mods.Nothing kept me away from the real thing in the end. Then I discovered Reoville. I purchased a grand around 2 years ago and I haven't had a single cigarette since new years 2012. After having such success with the grand, I talked my father in law into buying one. He bought a bright purple grand with a rm2, he LOVED it! Shortly after that I purchased my second one and I have been happy ever since. as funny as this sounds our reos created even a stronger bond. We would talk about juice, coils, and our general pleasure with our devices. It was great!

Last week he gave me his purple grand as a gift. I sent it off to rob for new contacts and to get milled. It will be something I cherish forever.

I wrote Rob a similar letter to this post explaining the situation to him, but I figured I would share this with the Reo community because I felt it needed sharing. I feel that Rob has potentially saved my life. I kept going to regular cigarettes using all of my previous products before I got my grand. Now I have zero desire to go back. He provided me a healthy outlet to something that would most likely take my life down the road. I feel that my father in law and Rob have given me a second lease on life, something that I am very grateful for. If I ever meet him, I'm going to give him a huge hug and then a handshake thanking him for everything he has done.

I also want to thank the community for keeping me involved, entertained and warmed to the core. Coming to this forum daily gives me faith in humanity and hope that one day I will be surrounded by people exactly like my Reonauts. It's something i look forward to doing every day. I don't post much but on my days off I usually visit every hour or so to see what new and exciting. Thanks everyone for being kind, insightful, and caring to your peers. It's a much needed breath of fresh air.

Sorry to hear that, Shane. I've lost a good family friend and my uncle to lung cancer. My uncle smoked 3 packs a day of unfiltered cigarettes. It was terrible to see him deteriorate so much every day, but when he passed we celebrated his life more than dwell on the sadness of the event. He was an uncle I was close to, he loved restoring old trucks and even making his own extended cab trucks. He had a lot of land and it was great being around him. He was in a lot of pain, but so hyped up on meds he didn't eat or anything for a few days. It's great y'all could see him and be with him and that your wife got to spend time with him too.

We're trying to get my other uncle to stop smoking. He started when he was in Vietnam and smokes 3 packs a day now too.

I wish the best for you and your family during this time in y'alls lives.

I'm sorry for your and your wife's loss. That was a very heartwarming post and relate very much to what you are saying. I didn't have someone to introduce vaping to me or Reos either not anyone to share this with, but you did. That's a memory you will cherish for the rest of your life. Your father in law gave you the gift of a longer, healthier life. That's priceless. Vape well, and fondly keep that purple Reo and remember forever.

Wow...thank you so much for sharing this Shane!

I'm very sorry for your loss and especially for your wife's loss. When you wrote that she slept with him every night it brought tears to my eyes. It's obvious that your father-in-law was much loved and admired.

Your purple grand is indeed something to treasure...I think that every time you vape on it you'll smile along with the tears.

Keep hangin on man, and remember that he gave you the gift of a healthier life. Youre always among friends here.

May your heart be surrounded with love and your mind at peace as you move through the passing of your father-in-law.

The memories of his life and especially the moments you shared with him will carry you on in the coming days.

We both have a Purple Grand now that holds more memories than most. My Mom passed away a few weeks after I bought my first REO, my Purple Grand. That Grand stayed in my hands as I said the last goodbye. It got me through with no thoughts of a cig. It will never leave me.

Hang in there Shane. Wrap your arms around your wife and let love get both of you through the days ahead.

So sorry to hear of your loss, Shane... My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this time of grief.

I really enjoyed reading your story... I lost my father in law to stage 4 lung cancer in 2012... We got incredibly close in the end of his struggle and I was his main confidant. What a touching gift to receive the purple Reo... I am sure you will treasure every moment with it.

My father in law also taught me everything I know about being handy and repairing everything around the home. My special gift was his workshop and everything in it. I remember him every time I am in there.

Be well, and enjoy the good memories that you have!
