Hello all. I had tried vaping about a year ago and gave it up relatively quickly. I think the problem was I went into it thinking it was going to be exactly like smoking, and that it was going to allow me to basically keep smoking without any of the health risks or huge expenses. I have now decided to try vaping again, but this time realizing that it is going to take a lot of work and willpower to get off the analogs, but will be worth it in the end. My question to everyone here is about model suggestions. Last time I was with the 510, (I don't have it anymore) I didn't hate it, but it burned my throat and it seemed like sometimes it would make great vapor and other times I would just get this tiny little puff (could have been my fault though, maybe I was flooding the atomizer). Now, I'm looking at that again just because I have experience with it, but I'm also considering the 901 (heard there's less throat hit, so less sore throat) and the ego (watched some videos with some very massive looking vapor production, which does appeal to me). I'm sorry this post is so long, but my head is spinning with all the options out there nowadays, I almost considered buying all 3 to figure it out, because I really want it to work this time. Things I'm looking for are lots of vapor, good flavor, minimal sore throat, and manual battery. I don't mind fiddling and it doesn't have to look just like a cigarette. Oh and if it helps for suggestions, I'm currently a pack a day marlboro reds smoker. Thanks, and again I'm sorry for the long post.

Welcome back, and don't give up.
It definately does take some getting used to, and a bit of a learning curve.

Sore throat = Drink more water.

The PG and/or VG that is the main ingredient of the Nic Juice does cause dehydration. It basically sucks up the water it comes into contact with. This is most likely the cause of your sore throat.

So just drink more water, particularly after your last vape before bed, and in the morning.
But definately drink more throughout the day.

I think TH is more dependant on the Juice you get than it is on the device. Though the device plays a part, but it's mostly the Juice.
Try a lower nic level, and a higher VG content.
PG = more throat hit and less vapor
VG = more vapor and less Throat hit.

It will take some experimenting and trial and error.

Check out the "Pay It Forward" Social Group.
If you get juice you don't like, you can trade it for something else.

Good luck, and keep at it. It's worth it.

I have been vaping for about 2 years, but full time vaping, no cigs, for the last 15 months.

My hubby, on the other hand, had many of the same issues you speak about.

It has taken us a while but we have finally found what works for him, luckily in our case, I was there to use up what did not work for him.. lol

He has found that he wants nic, lot's of vaper, little throat hit.

He is currently using 510 with cartomizer and I have been mixing 100 VG about 18mg for him, with a mellow tobacco flavor.

he is now down to a half pack every 3 days and cutting down more each day.

He has begun to take care of his own batteries, his own carto refilling, the whole thing, which in our case is saying a LOT after 36 years of him having his dinner on a tray in his lap every night... lol

Good luck, and like the other post said, think about the Ego/Tornado, they are great units and batteries last a long time, as opposed to the stock 510 batteries.

Welcome back!

Have you thought about going to a mod this time since you have vaped before? Something like a silver bullet or the chuck @ 3.7v may be a nice start.

My favorite setup is the sb with cartomizers, sounds like it may work well for you also. The sb can go 2 days on a single charge and cartomizers perform very well and don't need to be filled but a couple times a day for me. Its a great performing setup and also extremely low amount of maintenance needed.

Thanks everyone for your replies, they really helped. I've decided to go with with ego and use it with vg as someone suggested. I'm going to be picking up my kit from puresmoker. Now I have a couple more questions. Anyone have a recommendation for good juice suppliers, I seem to remember rockymountainvapor was popular when I was in it before? What color ego do you think I should get? I like the stainless steel one, but I'm afraid people will think I'm smoking a crack pipe when out in public. And if I remember correctly, other than the kit and juice, I should pick up extra atty's, blank carts, and filler material. Am I forgetting anything? LR or regular atty's any suggestions? Should I get extra batteries? Thanks again guys.

i really second the cartomizer suggestion, it will solve almost all your problems regarding overfilling and underfilling. V4L is a decent product and with the use of "low resistance" cartos you will get great vapor and flavor. I would suggest 510 cartomizers if you were looking at HV devices, but I've yet to see a true low resistance cartomizer for 510s, maybe turbos? Anyways V4L is basically a kr-808, and they do offer "premium" cartomizers which should be as good as it gets for 3.7v vaping, and trust me you will love cartomizers when you see how low maintenance they are in comparison to your 510. Plus they're supposed to get 5-6 hours which is pretty decent

Greetings and welcome back to ecf BStangl! (used your 1st two caps, but looked just wrong!) lol

Doesn't matter how you started...what really matters are where you're at right now and where you're gonna be.

imveryho, no one fails in this journey if you just stay the course, stick with it, and keep vaping. Like you, some people expect too much and get disappointed. For most it takes time for vaping to overtake smoking as a stronger habit...and it is indeed a habit, but a much healthier one

It doesn't have to be hard or take a lot of will-power, depending how you approach. Go at your own pace and just enjoy the journey. For me (and many other members...maybe most) it was stress-free, guilt-free, effortless, and almost automatic...we just had to stay with it.

Hey, same brand as me! Did greens too because I like to switch hit. Never had any th with mb's, so didn't want it with my vaping. btw, my nic level is 25 mg for all my juices and I still get subtle th.

Sore throat = Drink more water.

Jon is right on!

You might want to start with all vg as a benchmark for th, vapor, and flavor. Then experiment from there. This is how I started, but loved 100% vg and never left (I like a smooth th with massive vapor when I exhale).

Good luck in your renewed journey!
