Hi All, N00b to the forum. Been vaping for two + months. Have about 15 carto's from the various kits I've tried. I find that after about three days with one carto they get clogged so bad that even a good 5 miniutes in boiling water doesn't clean them out. I've taken a few apart to have a look and they seem to get a burnt 'caking' on the element. I've seen some video's that they feed a higher voltage through the carto and burn the baked stuff off but that is risky. I know, I've fried a few carto's attempting this. Is there a better way to clean them than just water without getting a chemically reside afterwards?

I have good luck running mine through my coffee maker. I cut the top of a soda bottle and bore a hole through the cap. wedge the carto in it. remove the upper assembly from the coffee maker and drop it in. The near boiling water will then flow right through the cart cleaning it out ( cool to watch on clear cartos). 8 cups seems to do the trick for me, then dry thoroughly

That's pretty clever!

Are you using the clear dual coil?

If you put the dual coil on your battery and wiggle it back and forth, the clear plastic comes off pretty easily. Then I carefully remove the outer batting and run it under the tap with hot water and blot it on a paper towel.

The inner coil I dunk into a coffee cup of hot water and swish it around then blot it on a paper towel.

Outside of the plastic, they dry super fast. I can be using the clear dual coils again in about 15 minutes.

That's innovative! Like a mini washing machine for carto's. Crazy. Thanks The Duke but that caked on stuff on the heating portion of the element inside the carto is kind of 'crunchy'. When I pulled one apart and twisted the wire filament it reminded me of the burnt drippings from a sugary pie. I do like the sweeter blends/mixes :)

Swedishfish, the thing is that I have sealed carto's at the moment and can't take them apart for fear for breaking the element. The ones that I did take apart to 'investigate' are now toast.

I saw a video that used coca-cola for cleaning but seems to me that that would just compound the problem when I started vaping with the carto again.

Yea, I think so too. Once you have any sort of burnt issue, that's pretty much it for a carto. I've only had luck washing cartos that were in pretty good shape already.

The hardest part of cleaning cartos is getting them dry. If they aren't dry and you refill them, it's like vaping through a mushy paper towel.

What kind of pv do you have?

A few duel clear, i liked them enough to use but will probably not buy more. I am more partial to 2.0 boge. It works great on either kind I have even ran a few 510 atties through the coffee pot and it worked great.

Boge are my fav too but I really like these!

Crystal Clear Vaping

They're probably killing my battery, but I don't care. I do have a vv on the way.

First I run a thin wire through the middle to brake up as much of the crusties as I can. Some use a piano wire, others a paper clip, I use a darning needle. Then I use this method to clean them.

Only 5 minutes in boiling water isn't going to do much, as you will see.
I would also suggest using distilled water. Not many places have tap water without minerals in it, and they can taste real bad.

Wow. Those look very 'industrial. Nice. I started with a ego 510. Hated it. Battery's were an issue. Got a revolution V2, better but was constantly repairing it and begging the local pharmacist for needles :). First day using a RoughShack V2. Now I think this will better fit my rugged life style.

Seems like you have a great setup! Maybe explore some of the tank systems, like the liquinator. I'm not really familiar with them but lots of people seem to love them. Maybe you'll have better luck with that than the cartos.
