Check out these blog posts by Baditude (one of our resident battery experts).

BATTERIES

Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

Purple Efest Batteries not as Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

So the battery part kind of scares me lol. Right now I'm using a trustfires so I will stick with the build I got now seeing it is 1 ohm reading with a multimeter. But as I was reading the battery blogs I noticed I purchased to batteries that are on there way out to the ship and they are not listed on the recommended or not recommended portion of the blog. I ordered MXJO 18650 35A Battery so I have no clue if those are safe or not for more serious building. Now box mods using 2 batteries is that double everything since it would share the pull and discharge?

my fault Bjorhyn you are correct I just recounted my wraps lol its a dual 9 wrap.

Any chance you know the inside diameter of your coils?
I really doubt you'll need to go to thicker wire, 22 is some hefty stuff, 'specially for a mechanical box.
On regulated devices, you can just crank up the watts.

Those MXJO's are good batteries, although 35a is the pulse rating. I've been treating mine like 20a with no issues.

How many mah are your Trustfire batteries. I can try to find out the amp rating of them.

Every battery I have seen that is labeled 35A is really 20A continuous (35A pulse). See Baditude's 2nd blog on the Purple Efest batteries.

Two batteries in a series (stacked or wired as such) doubles the voltage while maintaining the amps of one individual battery.
Two batteries in parallel doubles the amps & mah while maintaining the voltage of one individual battery.

Google your mod to see which way it's wired.

COILING CALCULATOR

Here are a few links for you regarding building coils and getting the resistance just where you want it:
1. Steam Engine
2. Coil Toy Calculator

Make sure to check your build with an ohm reader or DMM before putting it on your mod and firing it.

The Steam Engine is much more than just a coil calculator. I consider it my "All in One" vaping calculator.
Check out State-O-Flux's blog on the Steam Engine: Steam Engine: From Basic Use to Advanced Features

Trying to find the specs of my mod online no luck so far.

Dont know exactly what diameter i would say a little less than of a 1/4 inch in diameter

Alrighty, I'm under the impression your multimeter is off, or it's not being read correctly.
I'm assuming it has leads. If so, are you touching the leads together to find out the meter's natural resistance and subtracting that from your atty's readings?

This has me slightly worried.
I have a dual coil 22g build in one of my drippers right now, and it's .3 ohm, 10 wrap around a 3mm bit.

1/4 inch is a hair above 6mm, to get 1 ohm with 22g you need 19 or 20 wraps.

I think you're vaping much lower than you think you are.

Ribbon wire is awesome in a dripper 3x the surface area of round wire touching the wick surface = more vapor. Easier then a round wire micro as well just wrap close together and done no pinching, heating poking etc.

Look at it this way the microcoils work so well becuase you have many wraps making a long coil. Creating a lot of surface area (and this really is all they are doing)
With ribbon 1/2 the same amount of wraps will give you a coil just as wide

I use ribbon in my dripper and even at .8 ohms it looks like a fire extinguisher the plume is so thick lol

Bit harder to work with at first but worth it, all the benefit of some micro without having to go to .000006 ohms lol
