I use .8 which is considered resistance wise equivalent to 28g round so im guessing .9 would probably be fine

If you go to temco's website were many of us get ribbon they have a chart on thier ribbon page showing equivalents to round to help us assess resistances.

(Glad to see im not alone in not digging cotton lol)

After googling those, I don't really think I'd recommend them for much long-term use.
Just about everything I read was about how inferior they were to other batteries. Ie: Samsung 25r, LG HE2, Sony VCT3/4/5.
More than once I saw "I wouldn't trust something with Fire in the name."
I would hold out until you get your new batteries to do any new coils.

Aah, when you say bigger gauge, I automatically think thicker, not bigger number.
26 isn't bad. I have twisted 24g in one of Mutations currently. It fits pretty well, but you have to center the coils between the center posts.
You can always use thinner wire, and twist more than two strands together, too. Lots of customizability to be had.

Ok I appreciate the help on the batteries and yes I'm going to hold off with the building they should be here anyday now. Lol yeah I'm not using no 20 gauge, but I will definitely be checking out twisting some wire when I get the new batts in. I appreciate it for all the help Bjorhyn and Susan thank you. You guys make this forum worth wild I like all the useful help and info.

Trustfire: IMR 18650 1500mAh 3.7V (right off the wrapping)

Your Trustfire battery has a 7.5A CDR.

Regarding ribbon wire. In the Steam Engine you can select the type of wire you are using. Under Material Profile you will see two boxes. The default is Kanthal and Round. Change Round to Ribbon.
