According to a recent survey conducted by American bank Wells Fargo the accelerated decline of tobacco cigarette sales in the first quarter of 2013 might have been caused by the exponential growth of the electronic cigarettes market, among other factors.

Considered just another novelty item until a few years ago, the electronic cigarette has come a long way since then, and analysts have gone as far as to predict that it might actually surpass traditional cigarettes within the next decade. - See more at: http://vaperanks.com/growing-e-ciga...obacco-industry-profits/#sthash.3isnd9S8.dpuf

Great news to a certain extent, but the down side is big tobacco losing money and then using its conciderable power to push for regulation.

Or worse....
...the, "or worse", being the loss of tax revenue to pretty much every level of our government and them using their considerable power to push for regulation/taxation of e-cigarette devices/juices.

BT is not going down without a fight. The fact is electronic cigarettes are gaining in popularity and threaten to cut the profits of both the tobacco and pharmaceutical industry. You best believe they aren’t sitting around doing nothing as their revenues decrease. All these people making negative claims about e-cigarettes without offering hard facts aren’t really worried about your health, they have their own agenda. So please, don’t give into your fear, do some research and try to think for yourself. - See more at: Do E-Cigarette Contain Antifreeze? | E-Cigarette Reviews and Rankings

I have a theory that both our governments (UK & USA) do not want us to stop smoking, our government push us to stop - they give out patches, gum & hypnosis knowing that 90 odd percent will fail and continue to smoke, this leads to an earlier death and less pension payments. If a certain percentage give up ciggies, the powers that be are not concerned because they know there are more up and coming smokers in the schools to replace the ones that stop. I know we cost the health service millions in care etc' but i bet they save more by not paying pensions and benefits.

Cynical maybe, its all driven by money, why else would they control something that is better for us.

Sorry for the rant....

I tend not to get paranoid about what the tobacco will, may, or try to do. The fact the vaping is massively more socially acceptable and smoking is not.

Its not paranoia if its really happening. Do a little research. Last year we had to battle them and the gooberment at the FDA hearings they are behind numerous tax legislation proposals and ecig smear campaigns.
BT is not for ecigs and if they do jump on the band wagon whole hardheartedly they will not want the market to in any way shape or form resemble what it is today.

Dont kid ourselves, the powers that be are making big plans for us vapers and its not pretty.

We are to worried about letting illegal immigrants have a free ride here, and Obama care, NSA spying, and all of the other massive gooberment. unconstitutional intrusions on our day to day lives. On top of that the entire country is bickering over the Travon verdict Although I see more of this on the news and less in everyday life than what they make it out to be. Then we have the IRS, Benghazi scandals and Fast and furious is rearing its head again. I dont think the gooberment has time for ecigs right now. At least on our side of the border.

I agree with everything you are saying, HR. One more reason why I need to learn how to rebuild my stuff, like NOW. Seems like vapegeddon is right on the horizon...

Sucky things to be thinking about on such a beautiful Sunday afternoon, but so true, unfortunately.

With those political views I would think you'd see it not as they don't have time for ecigs. Instead I would expect you to think they will focus on vaping with bad information to distract from all the scandals.

Sadly, the government has more then once used times like this to sneak things past the American people. It is the perfect time for them, everyone is so caught up on what is happening in other current events they just pay no attention, not that most would anyway. CISPA was passed by the house during the Boston Bombings, it was never covered in the news.

Big Tobacco has lost its influence. From the higher and higher taxes on cigarettes, to smoking restrictions and bans. Politicians no longer even want to take their money. The Administration, state and local governments are the ones who affect vaping more than anyone. The way these governments have grown accustomed to spending and redistributing tax money, e-nic won't stay off their radar long. They won't ban e-cigs, or even really regulate them. Why restrict a tremendous source of new revenue? They will tax us.

Yea I worry that could very easily happen snuck in on the back end of some bill or another. Nice Avatar I saw Pantera the first time at Monsters of rock in 92 then again at a Ozz Fest Best Mash pits ever!

That is my worry as well. I don't think it will be regulations or anything, but high taxes placed on the liquid.

Unfortunately I never got to see Pantera live. On the plus side, my spinner and T3 survived 5 or 6 songs of a MachineHead mosh pit on the second stage of Mayhem a little over a week ago. I forgot to hand it off to a friend and now it sits unused for sentimental value.
