I'm not making my point clear. I have ZERO concerns about metal vaporizing; My concern is that metal filings (or dust) could be inhaled if one were to drill a hole or Dremal a slot into a carto prior to using!

Maybe if they made the Body out of Baloneium also, the Shavings could'nt Vaporize?

Maybe the Best is to Punch instead of Drilling.

OK guys. No more drunk posing!

The OP said metal particles inhaled. Never said metal vaporized. One person said "Since they'd have to vaporize to be inhaled, not a problem" (paraphrased... meaning they wouldn't be inhaled).

Then 20 posts about metal vaporization :p:facepalm:

Doesn't the OP deserve an answer?

1) Pre drilled cartos are pre-drilled at factory and probably few if any metal particles... one answer
2) Plastic cartos... people have used em in tanks....but IDK how they punch them. I'd be more concerned about the plastic getting on wicks, melting into a gas, inhaling.

So... rule of thumb... metal cartos, IMO. Also, check vivi-nova tanks or CE2 tanks so you don't have to punch the stupid things to begin with.....

I use an angle grinder to slot my cartos. I don't see how it's possible to vaporize metal shavings and if I get juice in my mouth I don't swallow it. I really don't see how this is an issue.

Adam the Aussie, Let's see... how would I put this in Aussie? Will you please re-read my question mate? Again... I'm not one BIT concerned about metal vaporizing, and I'm certainly not asking whether or not one would drink juice contaminated with metal particles. My concern wraps around inhaling metal particles and dust left over from from the cutting process. Thank you mate!

I give up AttyPop! I think there is more than just drinking alcohol involved here! I think there must be some kind of special "Kool-Aid" juice being distributed, of which I will not drink or vape :)

For those of you NOT concerned with inhaling solid metal particles or/or metal dust- have at it; just keep drilling and Dremaling your cartos without further thought. Please do yourself a favor and get regular chest X-rays

As for me... I will continue punching holes with a saddle valve until a better alternative becomes available.

Good idea. Will a CE2 fit your tank? I ask because.... you remove the plastic shell with a CE2 tank, no drilling or cutting.

I'm thinking about the Vivi Nova as an experiment. I mostly drip now, so I don't use tanks. I use CE2's while driving though. CE2 tanks just extend the carto diameter, more or less. Someday, the CEx makers will just make a BIG shell (tank sized) and be done with it.

I would think this would be the best thing if you are concerned about Metal Flakes getting in the Carto/e-Liquid.

Sorry if I made Light of what was is Ligitamate Question regarding Cartos.

No Worries zoiDman,... Humor is a valuable and an admiral quality that I admire. I've read enough of your posts to realize that your sense of humor is much like my own- which I like!

Others though... some downright scare me! I keep getting a visual of a man named Bubba, working in his messy, dirty garage. He's got 20 fresh, new Boge cartomizers stored in a dried up Benjamin Moore paint can... And... Bubba is drilling holes in each of his cartos one at a time; thru the drill press that just drilled a hole in his carburetor; with no regard to metal chips or dust entering into the cartomixer filler. I'll bet you money that "Bubba" exists :}

Thanks for excepting my Apology.

Let me say this also, and I think I speak for most people here. If people felt there was a Danger to you or Anyone reading these post, I don't think they would have Joked about it.

Your right that people here on the ECF like to Joke Around and maybe even do some Good Natured Ribbing. But VERY few would ever Joke about something if they thought that someone could Hurt themselves by not getting Straight Information.

On the serious side, I'm sure you do have a valid point Randy. I'm just having problems visualising how any metal particles that drop through the hole are going to work their way through the wet cotton filler, past the atty and up the centre air tube into my mouth. I'm sure this is possible, but when you can't visualise something it makes it harder to take on board. Anyway, be safe my fellow vapers.

If a tiny metal shaving can claw its way through the packing, squeeze by the atomizer, and make it through the arduous journey down the air tube, not to mention the difficulty hopping up into the drip tip, then it has earned the right to at least make it to the back of your mouth rather than just land on your tongue and have you reject it outright.

I've never worried that my lungs will fill with grass clippings when I mow, for what it's worth.

What scares me a bit... Have you seen some of these home-made, messed up looking mods, atty's and accessories that certain folks (in this forum) have engineered? Some of these warriors not only develop some pretty scary looking devices, they recommend them to others as well. As said in an earlier post, the majority of people here are sensible and go any lengths to keep each another out of harm's way. But, then again, some have graduated from the "Bubba" school of engineering

I'm not a modder myself so i haven't had a look in the modder forum, might have to check it out. I can see where you're coming from, i probably don't think about safety enough when it comes to these things. I guess as long as there's blokes in the world like you looking out for blokes like me, everything should work out alright. :)
