I've decided to go with the Riva 510. Comes with 10 empty carts so I'm ready to purchase some juice. I've been using pre-filleds for my KR808D-1 and it was time to upgrade. The decision was a hard one, but unfortunately I'm not in a position financially where I can afford to be wrong and all signs pointed to me giving this one a go.

Trouble is, I've been looking for a Riva 510 specific guide to filling carts and making sure I'm doing the right thing. I haven't filled a single cart since I started vaping over 3 weeks ago. I'm almost completely analog free making exceptions only when my 180mAh batteries are both dead.

I'm still a noob to this myself, but I will say one thing I've learned so far is a 180mAh battery doesn't last very long at all and WILL leave you constantly worrying about your battery going dead. That much I know. Which is why I decided to try the Riva out. I just placed the order, so I still have a few days, but I want to have some good juice on the way, and more than that, I want to know exactly what I'm doing when both the Riva and the juice arrives.

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but I can't find a Riva 510 specific guide to filling carts and getting started with this device. I've even checked the specific manual that will come with the Riva before I made the purchase and other various vaping guides online. I know it's around here somewhere, but the search feature of this board doesn't seem to ever discover what I'm looking for.

From what I hear, filling these things is a breeze, but I'm the kind of person that likes to know exactly what I'm doing so I don't .... it up, and cause myself further expenses down the road. I'm aware that I need to make sure the atomizer doesn't dry out, and that this can be achived by dropping some juice into it - but outside of that, it's a big mystery and I'd appreciate any input.

Also, I want to try some flavored ejuices. The cheaper the better but I'd like the quality to be good as well. Got a favorite vendor that treats you good? Let me know!!

Thanks for any help!

Cheers.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Filling carts is very simple. You can do it one of two ways. 1) drip a drop at a time to the poly fill in the cart until it is completely soaked. This way will take a while to soak in because the poly fill is new. You don't want a puddle on top of the poly fill, just nice and wet. 2) The quicker way is to take the poly fill out and add around 8-10 drops of juice in the empty cart, then put the poly fill back in the cart slowly so it can absorb the juice. You may need a toothpick to help push the poly fill back in. Again, you don't want a pool of juice on top of the poly fill. The poly fill should set just slightly below the edge of the cart. Then after a drop or two on the atty you are good to go.

The place I always recommend people for juice is BomBayVaping. You can get juice in 3ml bottles for just $2. That's a good size to test the flavor. You'll get lots of other recommendations when others see your post.

I went with a Riva too, after starting out with a smaller battery PV. I love it. I used technique #2 that tmcase mentioned. Also, when you first get it you might want to clean, or at least blow out (blow through the battery connection end) your atomizer, in case there's primer in it. (I think it's harmless, but might not taste good. I have to admit that I don't even know what it is [some kind of juice, or something else?]). Also, along with filling the cart, you might want to put a couple of drops right onto the atty the first time using it.

As far as juice goes... I don't have that much experience myself, but I would recommend finding a place that has small bottle sample packs if you don't know what kind of flavors you want.

I know you're on a limited budget, but I'd really recommend getting a cartomizer to go with your Riva eventually. I got some of the dual coil ones from Joogler Juice recently (you get a free bottle of juice with an order with them too), and also got a couple of Gold V2 from IkenVape (I think they were only $1.95 each). Both are really nice. With a good carto you get better hits and there is much less messing around with refilling. The standard cartridges get used up so quickly, I was constantly running them too dry and getting crappy tasting dry hits. Haven't had it happen once with a carto. The dual coils hold like 50 drops, so you have a LOT of vaping to do before you reach dry hits. You don't have to top off that often, but if you just get in the habit of doing it here and there, they work great very consistently... unlike the stock carts IMO.

Alright, I think I'd definately like to pick up some cartomizer's before my kit comes, or at least have them on the way. Is this what I'm looking for?

I just read the fine print on those cartos "*(Not suggested for use on batteries less than 450mah. Please note that these are not suitable for eGo, 510, or any mofset driven battery)" Your Riva is probably 750mah so that's good but I don't know if it has the mofset driven battery what ever that is. Have you checked out the clear duel carts? I love being able to see how much juice I have left. It takes the guessing out of it. Somebody will come along and tell you if the Riva has the mofset or not.

Here are some clear ones and they have black also. 5 per box. http://www.litecigusa.net/510_CLEAR_Dual_Coil_1_5ohm_MEGA_SOFT_CAP_Blank_Car_p/510cleardualcoil.htm

It's my understanding that the eGo has the mofset, but the Riva does not. I'm using these on my Riva, and they work great.

Joogler has a box of dual coil cartos for $9.00 and boge for $7.00 they come with a free bottle of juice.

If your a first time customer you 'might' be able to use the coupon code ECF5OFF for $5.00 off. Check with them first because someone said it didn't work for them. If it does you can get cartos and a bottle of juice for $2.00. But email them first.

I used that discount code for my first order... the thing is, to get it to work you need to order some juice. (Or, maybe your order just needs to be over a certain amount. Either way, I was told by someone here to add some juice to my order, and it worked.) The small bottles are $3, so with the extra $5 off you end up getting the second small bottle for free (along with the first free one) and the other $2 covers the shipping cost. Great deal, and they were quick getting it out. I'll definitely be ordering from them again. Unfortunately, the dual coils are out of stock.
