HELLO everyone.

I just recieved my riva 510 in the mail. I'm wondering if the cone is something that is needed to function? I bought it hoping that my husband and I could use one kit. But i found that it only had one cone. Do we need to use it? What is its function?

THANKS

It's not absolutely necessary but does improve the draw, some. You can use the Riva without a cone and no harm will come of it. I suggest you buy another kit and get two extra cones at that time. Cones are cheap. Riva kits are cheap. It's nice to have one riva working with another fully charged, ready to go for each of you. Keeps you from running for the analogs when the battery dies and the other one is just charging. 30 more bucks is cheap insurance.IMO

The cone is not necessary. Instead of buying an entire kit, you can just pick up a cone ($3.27) and spare battery ($11.99) cheaper than an entire kit. I have both the Riva and eGo - I use both w/o the cone. Some people notice a difference in the draw w/o the cone and others don't. I don't really notice a difference. The one difference I do notice is that w/the cone, it takes longer for the heat to dissipate - since I am a chain vaper.

But if you ever want to use a cone over a carto, the shorter Riva 901 cone will fit and has a slightly larger opening.

Re functionality - I believe it is both decorative and functional and can help provide a hotter hit by restricting air flow somewhat. I don't use it.

And a couple of tips - if you own or ever get a slim 510, you cannot use any low resistance Riva attys/cartos on the slim 510 nor charge the slim 510 in the Riva's fast charger. Either can damage the slim batteries.

I have found some uses for the cone, it does protect the connection between the atomizer and battery should you drop your PV, it spreads the pressure over the entire top of the battery instead of stressing the connection. Also when I vape a mild flavor I like to blow a little puff of air into the pv with the cone on mid draw it will push some vapor out of the top of the cone right under your nose and it seems to enhance the flavor. Otherwise though the cone is mostly cosmetic, just there to make the connection look prettier.
