read this,
veeeery long read,
but from what I can understand,
they have filed a patent for an electronic cigarette,
looks like a cigarette,
shows visible -smoke like vapour,
uses pg and vg and nicotine.
they use references to ruyan electronic cigarette a lot.

yes, I would say they have applied for a USA patent for an e-cig -

this was done in 2006,
just after ruyan,
wonder when that will hit the western world market,

Di ......

I posted that a couple of times....looks like what became the Heatbar. As I said before, BT is not sitting back wondering how they got left behind. They may be wondering who sold secrets to the Chinese or maybe they own Ruyan. Despite their demonized reputation, my bet is that BT has some of the best scientists in the world working on a number of projects...e smoking is near the top of their list.

Yes indeedy. This one would not need any FDA approval because, by using tobacco soaked in PG and VG, it's a cigarette. And, so far, the FDA has no regulatory control over cigarettes. E-smoking uses liquid. FDA says the liquid contains a new drug. That new drug needs regulating. But RJR's tube has real tobacco. Not new. No need for FDA involvement.

This does look like the patent that produced the Heatbar, however, which was not successful in consumer testing. It's not hard to believe that cigarette smokers wanted something that looked like a cigarette. The Heatbar looked like a personal vaporizer. Smokers didn't want personal vaporizers.

Ironic, isn't it, and some not want e-cigarettes to be called personal vaporizers?

FYI: I have soaked tobacco in VG and stuffed the wet mixture into an empty e-cig cartridge. It works, but not as well as a commercial cartridge.

RJR is also planning to introduce dissolvable tobacco products in a few months, to compete with the pioneering products from Star Scientific. Just when a market takes off, here's comes Goliath to smash that upstart David and scoop us the business.

Yes Bob, indeed if FDA takes control of tobacco, do you think that cigarettes will survive? I think cigarettes are too much dangerous to be FDA aproved :S

Also RJR let all doors open, I think they are just waiting to others to do the dirty job and when the market takes off, I can see a personal vaporizer made by RJR that uses liquids almost identical with what we have now BUT using a filler made with purified tobacco leaf, they can purify the tobacco leaf and let just the fibers for make pads or something like that that will absorve the liquid, so it will be a tobacco product but will work as our e-cigarettes, maybe, just maybe.

Imagine this for a second or two,the E-cig gets banned by the FDA because it uses a new drug(nicotine).RJR uses tobacco in it's core,no FDA control there, home run RJR,they own the American market with their E-cigs.RJR wins, the goverment wins (can still tax tobbaco),could be a nice litle monoploly in the making.Who knows what is going on right now, anything is possible.8-o

There must be a way to use re-constituted tobacco to form a membrane similar to what is in the cartridges. Almost like cotton candy tobacco, probably with a bit more air between to serve as an appropriate vessel for the PG solution...
I think this is the gist of the method described in the patent application, but don't feel like taking another look at the moment :D

Interesting. Very interesting. Further uses for the e-cig are always good. Separates them from the medical device category even further.

I think this is exactly what is going on. RJR as a history of this. Doing the same thing with the RYO market. Tiring to monopolize. Big bad tobacco company doesn't like people stepping on there profits. Already marketing different disolvables and snuss under there camel brand and an inferior product it is compared to Swedish snuss. They are also lobing to ban Swedish snuss from the US. Some think they market inferior products just to discredit them to show how great there ciggs really are. MMM just an opinion.
