Merry Xmas eve Reoville!

This is something I've been curious about for a bit now and I'm hoping a video or two could explain the process much better than the posts I've read. How do you go about dry burning and rinsing your coils? I will dry burn mine but it leaves little bits of debris in the bottom of the rm2. I try to swab them out with Q-tips and paper towels etc but it seems like the only way to truly clean the Rm2 is to remove the coil and rinse the whole thing. I have never done this as I am concerned about getting water into the posts and unsure if that would cause an issue or not.

I have however dry burned the coil, removed it, and rinsed it with water. Recently completely forgot to dry it and attempted to fire it up...good way to make that spring collapse!

In short, could one of the more experienced Reonauts provide an instructional video on coil maintenance and RM2 cleaning? I am scared of the REO/RM2 + H2O combo!

Here's hoping the post makes sense; my brain is struggling to recover from the Christmas Eve adventures I've had today:?:

Thanks very much and happy holidays!

I just put a new coil and all in it. I wash the RM2 under a tap and get the worst of the crap out of the cup with an old toothbrush. Dry it on an old teatowel (caution: do not use one of the wife's good ones!).

Test coil and go. Unless you are using cotton ball wicks or very tough wire like R41, then rewicking and dry burning takes me just as long as making a new coil, so i don't bother.

Ok...so I am being a bit too paranoid. Really concerned about water after my last screw up! So literally just remove the RM2, run through water, and then just dry it well? Blow it out with one of those cans of compressed air? This sounds so simple I'm almost baffled I could screw it up so easily.

So you can dry burn the coil, leave it connected to the RM2 as you rinse it and not have to worry about water left in between the loops of coil(I run a micro coil so they are touching) or in the posts?

Thanks for your help all!

I guess that this is something that could be somewhat troublesome. I'm not saying that water in the posts cannot ever do something bad. I'm saying that it will likely not be that big of an issue. I mean considering that when you squonk, it is literally filling the RM2 with liquid.

I tend to look at it as if ejuice won't short out a battery, then water most likely won't be an issue. I'm not sure what the event that preceded this post was, but I don't worry much about rinsing my Reo off and just rewicking. It is as simple as that.

I cleaned mine earlier. Dry burned the coil, turned the reo upside down and shot some water up the feed tube from a syringe. Dry burned and doused with running water. Recoiled, wicked and vaped. You can remove your battery when u put it near water then put it back in to dry burn. Everyone has they're own way.

I tenth the remove wick, dry burn, and run under hot water method previously mentioned. Every 4-5 cleanings (depending on eliquid color and viscosity) I'll do the usual, but before rinsing under hot water I'll let the RM2 base soak in some vodka for a few hours; as long as my patience allows at least. I don't know how much this helps remove coil buildup (dry burning takes good care of that), but I know for sure it does a pretty great job at freshening up the ceramic deck. Makes the juices taste like you're vaping it in a brand new atty/coil.

If I could get my hands on everclear I'd totally use that, but vodka does a pretty good job.

I tried the vodka/everclear method. It does work but, I just can't stand the abuse of good alcohol.

I bought some stuff at my local b&m that was soo cheap I think half a liter was around 5 bucks if I recall correctly.

Just get the gnarliest cheapest stuff on the planet. It's not for drinking. Just degreasing engines and cleaning atties :)
