The gap is normal you can put a black o ring under the atomizer if it bothers you . I hope your not over tightening your atomizer as a rule its not good to over tighten atomizers on any mods

That's what I was trying not to do, I just turn it finger tight but no force. I will try the o ring and see if that helps.

Thank you!

I believe you can PM Rob and ask him to invoice you for a new cap and have a stock air hole drilled 3/64" (the air hole needs to line up to the coil when the cap is screwed on).

Would I need to find someone to drill it for me or does it come drilled? Sorry, I've purchased both of mine from the classies.

or....for a quick fix...

The "band" is a section cut from a cartomizer cap and stretched around the RM.

Thanks. I've been trying to think of something I could do. I've been partially covering it with my finger.

I think you can either buy an un-drilled cap from Rob, which you then get drilled locally so the air hole lines up with where the coil goes, OR, you can send Rob your RM2 minus cap and he will fit a new cap with the air hole drilled in the correct position for you. (Rob needs the base so he can screw the new cap on to mark where the air hole needs to be positioned).

Makes sense. I will see if I can find someone to do it locally.

The standard air hole size is 3/64", and the cap material is brass so its reasonably easy to drill. If you get it done locally make sure they drill the hole at the same height as the hole in the old cap. The height of the center of the hole from the bottom of the cap is 0.225" on two of my RM2's.
