I used SS Mesh for about a year with Tanks. With SS Mesh, you have to deal with Hot Spots ...along with Hot Legs.

Hot spots occur when the Mesh does not touch the inside of the coil uniformly. This frequently happens when tiny strands of mesh (from the edges when you cut it) are lodged between the mesh and coil. Visibility of these tiny strands are very low, and you have to heat the Mesh up with a blow torch to see it. Hot Spots also occur when tiny holes form underneath the coil (where the mesh touches) during dry burning. SS Mesh can and will burn holes in itself from dry burning.

You'll be tinkering a lot using SS Mesh, and the chances of of Hard Shorts will dramatically increase. Buy lots of Springs IF you plan on using SS Mesh with Unregulated Voltage (Mechanical Mods like the Reo Grand). The two are a recipe for disaster. Stick with using safe wicking materials such as KGD, CC, or RxW -- anything but SS Mesh.

I'll have nightmares tonight just talking about SS Mesh. Once you've spent time in the SS Mesh Camp... it's like breaking free from a prison.

The part of Canada that doesn't get enuf Snow :(
for a good while I used mesh wrapped around ekowool the ekowool helped hold more juice and I think helped with not getting so many hot spots it was a bit of messing around but imo a pretty good wick. I found I don't like the ekowool/silica wicks very much they give me an itchy throat but with the mesh wrap that fixed that. So id wrap a 3-4 inch long coil and just nip off what I needed the wick can then be dry burned multiple times Id do a couple then replace it. All that said because of simplicity Ive gone back to Bamboo I get about 3 weeks out of it so long as I keep it wet
