Hey all! New poster here. Been browsing the forums for a bit, but this is my first post.

My first e-cig was an RN4081 that I (regretfully) purchased from a mall kiosk. Needless to say, I got ripped off, as far as price goes.

I like the RN4081, I got a couple of spare batteries for it browsing some sites (that's when I realized how badly I got ripped on price), got some blank cartomizers, some 60 ml bottles of 100mg/ml flavorless nicotine liquid (one bottle of 100% PG, another of 100% VG) and two big bottles of 100% PG, and 100% VG. Got some flavorings too, and I've been experimenting around with some flavors. I really like Blackberry, and Strawberry-Kiwi, and normally make my liquids at about 20 mg/ml nicotine.

The blank carto's I got seem to be much better than the kiosk bought ones- looking inside, I can tell there is a heck of a lot more polyfill inside the blanks, as the ones from the mall have a huge tube through the center, versus the very skinny tube found in the blanks.

1) Some questions... is it better to vape a carto until it starts losing it's flavor, then clean and reuse (or toss, depending on how you do things) or just to top it off every once in a while?
2) If you puff too quickly, will that cause the carto to burn inside, just like if you let it run dry of liquid?
3) What other models of battery would you recommend over the RN4081, if you've tried the 4081? My list that I want to choose from includes the 501, DSE901, DSE801, M401, KR808D-1, KR808D-2, Ego, Ego T 1000mAh, and DSE103.
4) What's the difference between the different mAh ratings? I see 180, 650, 1000... I don't know what different ones do.
5) What's you're preferred PG/VG mixture? I've been using abuot 60/40, PG/VG, (before adding the flavoring, which is PG based, so its more than 60% PG overall). When you're flavoring with something sweet, like fruit flavors, would you want to cut the amount of VG to reduce the sweetness of the starting liquid, to better taste the fruit?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

I never let a carto get dry. I top it off to keep it damp, usually when 1/3 to 1/2 empty it is when I add juice (judging by how many drops I add). I use a carto for a week or more until it is degraded then I start a new one.

2) If you puff too quickly, will that cause the carto to burn inside, just like if you let it run dry of liquid?

Your thick juice probably causes the carto to singe. It cannot move fast enough to keep the coil area damp. I use 20% or less VG in slim ecig cartos. But true - if you vape constantly you could outrun even thin juice.

3) What other models of battery would you recommend over the RN4081, if you've tried the 4081? My list that I want to choose from includes the 501, DSE901, DSE801, M401, KR808D-1, KR808D-2, Ego, Ego T 1000mAh, and DSE103.

Slim - KR808D-1 (real 3.7v slim mini) and I would choose manual batteries, standard aka 78m size for a 120mm ecig
Never KR808D-2 - that would be choosing incompatibility

Alternately, if you want to be 510 compatible, Joye brand 510 manual (I use the small 180mah ones when out w/ Boge standard resistance cartos and at home use the mega xl 280mah manuals)

Big - 510 threaded 3.7v (not Ego since Ego is around 3.4v but if you plan to use all LR low resistance atttys and cartos on it then the voltage doesn't matter as much). Use standard standard resistance cartos because I share them between my 3.7v batteries/mod and with the slim 510 which is around 3.2v or so. (slim ecigs should only use standard resistance). And I also use an adapter to use KR808D-1 cartos (I use Vapor4Life WOW cartos) on the big batteries so I want at least 3.7v like the slim KR8. So my 510 cartos are hotter on the big batteries and my KR8 cartos are the same.

4) What's the difference between the different mAh ratings? I see 180, 650, 1000... I don't know what different ones do.

Amount of charge. 100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping at standard resistance

5) What's you're preferred PG/VG mixture? I've been using abuot 60/40, PG/VG, (before adding the flavoring, which is PG based, so its more than 60% PG overall). 90PG/10Vg and 80PG/20VG with normal stuffing cartomizers

VG dulls flavors and TH as well as smoothing out nicotine's irritation
VG is also thicker and makes denser looking vapor

I started out with the RN4081, Njoy to be exact. However, I didn't get taken. A local smoke shop had a sale, and I got the kit for around $35. Well, that lasted about a month before it was time to move up. I moved to a Joye eGo from Liberty-Flights. I'm still using the eGo, plus a 5 volt passthrough. I do have 7 batteries in rotation. They range from the 650 through 900 mah. I had an 1100 mah, but it died. Liberty-Flights also has a Joye eGo clone, the Riva 510, which may be the best clone available. Check Liberty-Flights site, and click the 20% off button at the top of the page. I'd also get some of the eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers from Mad Vapes. Pick up two or three of the shorty 510 extensions in case of contact problems between the battery and cartomizer.

I've used all of those attys and/or cartos and the 4081 was my least favorite atty size. The 510 will give many more options but does tend to heat hotter. The 901 probably provides a little more flavor. The 801 is my favorite regular resistence atty/carto AS LONG as you use it on 5 volt or variable volt PV's.

mAh rating just measures how long the battery will last pulling a set level of power drain. Larger being better, for more time between charges.

Battery power, i.e. 3.2 volt, 3.7v, 5 volt and variable volt is the power of the battery. More power provides warmer vapor. 5 volt and variable volt provides more consistency and warmer vapor because it works better under load.
