I have been using an RN4081 for almost 3 years now. I did learn long ago that I preferred to drip over filling cartridges and I do drown a lot of batteries. I haven't visited the forum in a long time, but it appears I am completely out of date!!! What handles like a RN4081 but would be a better replacement? Also, if I switch, will these RN4081 parts (attys and batteries) work with any of the others?

Thank you for any advice!

I started out with a 4081. After a couple of months, I wanted something better, so I moved up to an eGo. It's bigger, but performs better. I'm ready to move up again, but need mo money.

I don't know if anyone makes a sealed battery for the 4081, but Good Prophets and Arizona Smoke Free carry some 4081 stuff.

It seems as if for a cig sized PV, the Joye 510 or the KR808D-1 are the current favorites.

I don't think the 4081 stuff works with anything else.

The 510 threading is the most popular right now and there are adapters available so you can use your 4081 stuff if you have a bunch, 510 Battery to 4081 Atomizer adapter. The standard 510 batteries are just slightly larger than the 4081 and have a few mah more power. There's lots of other stuff with 510 threading that will give you longer runtime though. Ego's, Riva's and similar units are quite popular in that category. If you get a manual battery you won't kill them with flooding.

One that also gets a lot of praise is the Volt by Smokeless Image. It's a little larger than a standard 510 but gives a higher output voltage and has a little bit larger battery. It's an 808 threading and will take 901 atomizers without an adapter. Although they're automatics, from what I understand they're using a sealed battery so you can't kill them as easily when dripping.

I second the 808 and the Volt. I love my Volts. My "ancient" ecigs from 3 years ago can't hold a candle to the Volts from Smokeless Image. Their new mid size batteries are also 808 threaded and will take their cartomizers or clearomizers, I still prefer the cartomizers. I also like the Volt so I don't have to have a 3-piece system. I've been very happy with them, and they are what actually, finally and completely got me to quit the tobacco cigarettes. I like the feel of them, and their X2 mid size (in 650, 900, or 1300) are all I need, I don't feel the urge for bigger or big battery mods. Liquids on the other hand, are where I am now going crazy, since I've got just about all the colors of the Volt batteries I need, now, lol.

If you plan on moving on up into this century (yea, I had 4081s, too. Lol) you might as well spend $20 to $30 (plus a eGo 420ma charger) and move all the way to the front of the Pack with the Joye eGo Twist. It is larger (eGo size) and is adjustable to any voltage between 3.2 and 4.8 volts. It can hold the selected voltage with no drop under load and the voltage is steady for the life of the charge. It's 510 threaded so the 510-4081 adapter is necessary to use all the attachments you now have. It works best with 2 ohm attachments (lower ohms don't allow the full range of voltages and higher ohms limit the amount of watts it can produce).

That's a lot of flexibility for the price (I've paid more than that for a 4081 battery). Lol
Just my opinion.
Relax, Enjoy!
